Suggestions for replacing Carefree OTD Pull Strap

Looking for the easiest way to replace the pull strap for my over the door awning pull strap. The idea of disassembling the roller seems like it may be a nightmare to retension properly, but maybe I'm just over reacting. Anyone have any experience doing this job?

I believe the Carefree Awning doesn't have an open end on the channel that the strap slides in. You'll need to do it following one of the following methods.
Using a drill:
How to Replace an Awning Strap | eHow.com
Using a Dremel tool:
Carefree Awning Strap Replacement

If you can't just pull the awning down to get at the roller, tie a rope to the top of each arm and pull from the ground.

Thanks Bob... the Dremel one did the trick. I have a Dremel but of course not the right bit. Back to Home Depot for the 2nd time today. Bought a cutoff wheel to cut a slot and a grinding bit. Problem solved and no wrestling with the tension spring.
