SuperSteer Trim Kit

I am adding a Safe-T-Plus stabilizer to my Monaco Executive coach, but also want adjustability for changing wind and road conditions. Looking for comments from anyone who has the trim kit and their impression. Newmar's Comfort Drive is great and what Newell has is as well. The SuperSteer Trim kit in combination with the Safe-T-Plus looks like a close second, but would like first hand comments before I buy them. Thanks

I had a similar version on my 2005 Monaco Diplomat, called TruSteer. It was the manual version of Comfort Steer. I really liked it. It had a simple rocker switch that you pushed whenever you added steering input for road crown or wind.

I thought it would require constant adjustment, but it became second nature. I put the switch in a spot that my hand normally rested. When driving on an interstate, you could go quite a way before you needed to hit the switch due to a road condition change.

Don, are you thinking of Tru-Center Steering?? I also had that system, but Blu-Ox stopped making it several years ago. I had it on a Phaeton.

Crasher,

I installed that on my 1998 Beaver Patriot with a magnum frame. I took a chance knowing it was very similar to the Monoco frame, one of the reasons Monoco bought Safari.

It was a exact fit, even if some of the bolts were difficult to remove. It also works as advertised, uses a air chamber to allow you to reset the center for the road crown or for wind.

I played with it alot when first installed, now it mostly stays set unless something serious comes up to make me want to make a change, like 20 mph side winds.

Thanks Carl. I was hoping it worked as advertised. I was going to install the Safe-T-Plus shock anyway for blowout stability, but will also add the trim kit.

I always brain fart on the name.....yes....TruCenter. Usually, I have to go back and look at old photos of the switch.

I installed the Safety Plus system first and found it put a drag on the steering that not only made my steering harder to turn, but caused the power steering pump to make some noise. I sold the piston portion of Safety Plus to a friend with a Monaco Knight. However, the bracketing from the Safety Plus was the same that TruCenter used, so I reused it.

TruCenter went out of business years ago, mainly because the unit would get water in it and quit, it was also expensive.

I thought the Super Steer unit was also not available anymore unless you found some new old stock.

Henderson still has the SuperSteer available. I am concerned about how much the Safe-T-Plus adds to the steering effort, however, it's been around for awhile. You said it was significant. The TruCenter cylinder also had an adjustable internal spring that could affect the steering effort, but you found that it apparently wasn't as stiff as the Safe-T-Plus?

I found no resistance on the TruCenter. I loved it.

It was a great product. Too bad it's no longer available.
