Surge guard model #40350RVC
The last two times I've hooked my coach to 50 amp power it hasn't worked, 30amp works fine but no 50, I have a model 40350RVS Surge guard inverter that was installed in 2017, I pulled the cover off to check voltages and found there are 2 120 volt power feeds to the large circuit breaker or relay from the shore power plug at the outside pedestal, (this is one of two inside the box, the other one is for the generator feed), but nothing comming out. If I plug into 30 amp service I get thirty to breaker and 30 out.
I've tried to contact Southwire the surge guard parent company but have found that useless, Bought the coach used and the previous owner didnt include the owners manual in the suit case with all the other manuals, the only thing I found was the bill for the install.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

When something like that happened to me,turned out the surgeguard unit was out of calibrationre the voltages it was reading. Needs to be recalibrated. The procedure is not in the manual ... so you will need to keep trying to contact the company tech support for instructions for your particular unit, as they do not make the procedure openly available..

The 40350RVC won't pass power if it finds something wrong with it. The first question is whether there actually is a problem with the incoming 50A power or something wrong with the 40350RVC unit. It is possible it is making a wrong diagnosis. If your 40350 has the remote display, it should be displaying an error message.
Regardless of whether the shore power is 30A or 50A, the shore cord has two 120v feed wires and both should show 120v. With 30A power the two wire feeds share the same 120v source on the 30A outlet, but there are still two hots. If only one of the relays in the box gets power, something is wrong.

First off I want to admit I was wrong about customer support from surge guard, they did contact me via phone ( Stephen Guarcello) and was walked through the diagnostics using my fluke meter, and although the out come was not a good one, I do have a complete understanding of how the system works.
The tech determined there is a problem in the circuit board and its not serviceable, I will need to replace the unit.
I am currently in Miss. but will be heading back to Mich. on Fri., I have one last thing I'm going to try when I get home, a new plug on my outside cord, just a guess, but can't hurt.
Thanks all for the help.
Don
PS I know most RVers head south in winter but I still love to snowmobile.

Bummer. Unfortunately things on these beasts do break. Fortunately it seems you canbe operable with 30 amps? Hopefully it is the plug ... that is a pretty easy fix.

Surge guard
As it turns out a new 50 amp plug fixed my problem, it's the origional and sealed, there must have been a short inside it, 20$ fix.

Surge guard
The origional plug was sealed the replacement was a 2 piece plug , I suspect that one of the wires inside the plug was compromised showing voltage but unable to handle amperage enough to trigger the relay in the inverter.
The service tech did tell me that if all other possibilities had been ruled out then it would have to be the circuit board in the inverter.I only hit upon the plug from working on both 12 and 120/240 systems in the past that failed, plenty of voltage little or no amps, generally causing strange things to happen or not happen, ie the car that won't start but you wiggle the cable on the battery causing a better contact, it does.
I guess what it comes down to is, I took an educated guess.
Thanks to all Don

Thanks. I asked because i just replaced my plug after i discovered the original (molded/sealed) plug was getting REALLY hot, and all i could find were the two piece clamshells like it looks like you used. New plug does not even get warm. Makes you wonder how many bad plugs there are out there.....
