Question Surge guard protection??

Probably a silly question but.......bought a new 2014 Thor Windsport (50 amp hook up) last October and am wondering if it has a built in surge guard to protect my electrical stuff in my Class A.
I have read the generic owners manual over and over and can't figure it out. From reading other threads in this forum, many of you really believe a surge protector is an absolute necessity for peace of mind when hooking up to a campground pedestal. I guess I could call Thor and find out as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dollars to doughnuts you don't have one.
My opinion and that of many others is you should have one. I like Progressive Industries. Be sure to read about them all, then get the top of the line.

I have the portable but it is mounted permanently in my electrical by cutting power cord and adding appropriate plugs.

You are sure to get more replies.
Congrats on the new coach.

Ideally, every trailer should come standard with surge, voltage (high, low, incorrect voltage) and wiring fault protection. Progressive Industries makes the ems-hw30 and ems-hw50 series which offer top notch protection.

Most surge guards will take about 2 minutes and a few seconds before they will allow power to be put to the coach. If you plug in and have power immediately, you don't have one. My bets are you don't. Same answer you got on the other rv forum.

I have the progressive 50 hardwired unit and I love it.... Mine kicks in within 45 secs of plugging coach into power.... Plus it has a digital readout that let's me know what's going on...

You have surge protection.
A PT-50C also protects against over/under voltage, and will sense a bad pedestal.

You have an expensive high-end MH. I respectfully suggest an upgrade to your P.I. unit.
