scbwr - how did you set it up to keep the PI in the compartment? I'm a newbie and was thinking a 30 Amp extension cord from the post to the compartment where i plug the PI into the extension and then plug the coach wire plug into the PI? Is that your setup or did you do something different. I don't want to be worried about theft but don't want to overextend wiring.

YES.

Even though we have a hard wired Progressive EMS 50amp unit installed, the wife always checks the pedestal first with our portable PI EMS unit before we even back into the site and plug in. If that portable shows a bad pedestal for ANY reason we don't pull in or plug in. We either find another site or the CG comes and fixes the pedestal first. It's double insurance and only takes a minute. On several occasions it has saved us a lot of time and hassle from backing in, start to set up, only to find out later "bad pedestal".

I ended up buying the the portable PI EMS 30 and was surprised at the size of it when delivered, haha. All the pictures on the net make it look like its the size of a fist.

Very happy to read how pleased everyone seems to be with PI.
