Surge suppressor
Has anyone out there used Progressive Industries SSP 50 surge suppressor. They are being sold on EBAY for 115.00. Lifetime warranty. Any replys on this would be helpful.
Thanks

I have been using the same hardwired 50 amp Progressive surge suppressor for 8 years, moved twice to new motorhomes. It has save me several times, twice when it showed faults in the campground pedistal, once that I know of when a spike took out the motorhome next to us, and several times when campgrounds browned out.
Progressive is a super company as they replaced the board at no cost when the above power spike caused a malfunction in the display. I would not be without it and would pay twice what I did for it.

I assume you realize that the model you are asking about is basically just a surge suppressor. It doesn't contain the features of the Progressive EMS-PT50C which can turn off your power if it detects unsafe conditions. Both Progressive and Surgeguard make both types of devices. The surge suppressors are much less expensive and people are always confusing the two types of devices.

The one I am looking at detects wiring faults and such. Not having the manual on it I don't know if it in fact prevents overvoltage/undervoltage problems. Thanks for your guidance.

Many members report being very happy with their Progressive units. A search on Progressive Industries Surge Protector yields four pages of input.

Best of luck.

The Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C will run ya about $349 +/-. Ya may find it on eBay for less but I doubt $115. You don't need a manual to figure out which one is on eBay. Try rvupgrades.com for info on both. Then buy the PT50C. You'll thank us later.

I found the differences. You are correct. The unit I was looking at is a surge suppressor with wiring fault indicators. It does not have under/over voltage shutdown/airconditioning timer protection. Thank you for your guidance. I will get the unit with full protection built in. Thanks to all who responded.
