I personally will not own another non-tag axle coach.

Foretravel also built tag axle 38 footers.

If you use toll roads or bridges. The cost will be double to triple for 3 axles. Probably quadruple or more for 4 or more axles depending on the specific road. One near my Dad's house for example is $8 for 2 axle, over $16 for 3-4 axle and over $33 for 5 or more axles. This includes any trailer axles. So that triple axle toy hauler trailer or a tag with a double or triple axle trailer will be a money pit at tolls

So ^^^^ my wheel lift has paid for itself?
A PU pulling a 2 axle TT trailer pays the same as I do. Makes me feel better.
Doubt someone with a 3 axle stacker trailer (to heavy to tow behind a non tag DP) is worried about paying for 6 axles.

You just lift the tag going through the booth.

For me the difference between a tag and non tag coach, is much greater then a comfort drive coach vs non comfort drive
W/o a doubt my next coach will be a tag coach, comfort drive or not doesn’t matter to me at all.

Monaco’s yes but you have to be in 2nd gear or slower. Many of the newer rigs are so heavy that they use a steerable tag...doesn’t lift as it would overload the drive axle by 50% if it took the weight off of it. You can’t even dump the air in the airbags like some rigs do that do not raise.

Yes. Very easy. Just flip a switch and two air pistons lift it. I use it routinely when backing in or cutting a tight turn
Lifting the tag also shortens the wheelbase by four or five feet.

Not 4-5’ as the 2 rear axles are 44” apart so mathematically 22” but even that is optimistic... 4 tires on the drive are going to overpower the 2 tag tires so maybe 11” decrease.
When I first got my Dynasty I would raise the tag when making multiple tight rns, more for tire wear as it didn’t seem to make much of a difference on turning radius. Spread axle semi trailers (axles 10’ apart) started about then so I haven’t raised the tag in 10 years as the tires age out before we wear them out plus I do not see any unusual wear on the tag tires not raising the

In my case, I doubt very much that a lifted tag would be any different than my current "dumped" position. When dumped, the drive axle weighs just over 22,500# and the tag weighs about 3,000. I don't see how the tag can have any influence on the turning radius.

Lifting or "dumping" the tag moves your "Pivot Point" forward [ie; momentarily shortens your actual wheelbase] shorter WB = tighter turns.
Without lifting/dumping air on the tag, Your Pivot point is at the trunion ..ie: the mid point between the drive and tag axle.
A side note.. Under Federal law..[some states measure from steer to the last axle, but that is their state rules, not Fed] The wheelbase on a tandem drive axle truck/tractor is measured from the center of the steer axle to the center point between the two drive axles[the trunion] As that is the "Pivot point".

And what ^^^ does that have to do with a DP with a tag axle??? Might want to read my post 25 as it’s not a tandem axle setup.
Does your Foretravel 320 have trunnions between the rear axles and 8 tires (tandem axles). If so, I stand corrected for your rig.
My current rig has 23K lbs on the drive axle (4 tires) and 10K on the 2 tag tires. Guess which tires are getting scrubbed sideways in a tight turn?
