Tried that too.
In your case, one of the sensors could have slide down on the tank, so now indicates full.
And yes, you will have to do a 6sec flush, as long as the red light is on.
As for tank sensors, some factory idiot must have tried installing mine on the fresh water tank, so had to do it over again, with most of them, lying on the floor. Works great now and once you get in there, it's just a matter of gluing them back on the tank, where they belong.
