Temporary fix of awning over slide out.

Awning over slide out has a small tear approx ( 6" ) close to where the awning is attached to the motor home. Has anyone tried utilizing duck tape to repair an awning tear. Can't get motorhome into repair facility just now.

If it is fabric and not rotted I would try needle and heavy thread with. If plastic a sturdy patch for rafts or such. Just my opinion but there may be a better suggestion.

If it's fabric and you can find a similar material you can us cloth cement from Wal-Mart to glue a patch over the tear. I had a couple of holes in my main awning and put small patches over them about three years ago. No problems!

Awning repair tape. I used it on my Rockwood the year before we traded it and it was still solid. It worked really well. Try it and then maybe don't need to replace it yet.

Here is an Amazon.com link. Can pick it up at any RV shop.

X3 = Awning repair tape on both sides of the tear. That prevents something from catching the side not taped and tearing even more. We double-taped my cousins main awning that way 8 years ago and you must look close to spot the repair.

Hopefully the awning tape that the 4 folks here used was better than what I've seen. A friend had a tear in the same place and used awning tape (I believe from Camco) and water got under it and rendered it basically useless. It was used on both sides. At the very least I would go with Gorilla tape. Far better than the stuff I saw.

We also have a small tear in the slide awning, and purchased a roll of awning tape at the Toronto RV show yesterday. Amazon is about half the price of what I paid. I didn't even know there such a thing before yesterday.

I also have had good luck with gorilla tape. My slide toppers are a dark brown color and the tape matched well enough I don't see it and consider it a permanent fix.
