Awful! I hope we get an update on the cause of the tire failure.

iRV2: Fatal MH accident I90 Ellensburg, WA
Both such accidents on the diagonally opposite ends of the country are so tragic. Thoughts go out to all involved.

Pretty sad and scary, terrible timing for a tire failure. I'm an experienced class A driver and I don't believe a tire blowout would cause me to lose control and wreck it. I have never drove a DP though and the front end could be pretty light and very hard to handle; especially if the driver isn't very experienced. RIP fellow travelers.

Another reason to have a steering stabilizer on the front end!

Marble directs attention to the Michelin video tutorial on handling blowouts. What stood out to me was how crucial it is to not immediately slow down, as in taking the foot off the accelerator and definitely don’t brake. If you keep accelerating you keep forward momentum which prevents the vehicle veering in the direction of the blowout and then you can gradually slow down.

Many have written that when a blowout occurs, the coach moves right or left a lane at least even with stabilizers etc. It's really bad luck that a low bridge rail was just alongside. RIP.

I had a left steer tire go flat 7 months ago, on a two lane road along a river.
I would offer that the two most valuable assets that helped me stay in, or regain control, were both my full attention to driving and two hands on the wheel at all times while the vehicle is moving.
You will not have time to prepare for a successful end to this type event, if you wait for the "BANG" to prepare. This is a full strength, two handed event that begins without warning before the "BANG".
Nothing you can buy is a substitute for full attention and two hands at all times.
