We live in a HOA community that does not allow RV parking in the yards. You can park a boat behind a 6 foot fence but you cannot see the boat at all.
I call the management company and let them know that I will have my rv in my drive way and how long. When I get back I am ready to return it to our storage area in 3 days. This give me time to unload and get it washed and cleaned inside.
Right now there is a person that is suing the HOA because he insist he can park it behind a 6 foot fence even though it is against the by laws. I feel he is going to spend a lot of money on a loosing law suit.

Another story of government intrusion: We have friends who live on a six acre hilltop in Tucson. They temporarily stored a 5th wheel for a friend on their acreage and the county government officials made them move it behind their home. Ridiculous.

Must have been on the side of the hill the county could see. This begs the questions what if the house was turned 180 degrees?

Fortunately, like communities do exist. We did a little north-south travelling last month looking at places to retire for RV owners. The Great Outdoors in Florida is a very MH oriented community, and actually have an RV repair facility on the grounds. Our favorite, The Gardens, in Crossville, TN has an HOA that says you MUST have a MH garage when you build. You don't have to have a MH, but you do have to have the garage. GO GARDENS !!!

Getting back on topic... I would think if the OP had the MH parked at his home before the legislation was enacted, he would be grandfathered. However, he may have lived there before the legislation existed, but since it appears he brought the MH home after the legislation, he is subject to it. Just my opinion, and worth exactly what it costs.

Two of the things we liked about our house is that there is room to back the trailer and motorhome through a gate into the back yard alongside the swimming pool. Plus when our son comes to visit with his MH there is 30 and 50 amp service, water, cable phone line and sewer dump next to the side of the house. Makes for a pretty good campground.

Trust your RV is safe. Looks like code existed in 1963, about the same time as house was built. Probably close to my birth year and yours. When dog kennel is moved, hopefully codes will be okay. Predicament can be obviated through some other method. Enjoy RVing.

It is getting harder and harder for one to mind one's own business. Municipalities love to write ordinances that seem to pit neighbor against neighbor. What ever happened to private property rights and freedoms. Every ordinance that prevents you from using your property as you see fit, is an assault on your freedom. Having to store an rv offsite at cost, is costing you freedom. I will never live in town again. A licensed, operable vehicle should never be a problem anyway. I wish people would mind their own business, but some just have to have nose in everybody's affairs. I once tried to help a neighbor out by plowing his driveway and got cussed out. Now they can kma!

I thought that this thread would have been taken behind the barn and put to sleep weeks ago. But the more I think of it, a thread like this every so often gives us a chance to vent about life in modern-day America. This topic will be debated forever because there is no single answer - it is situational and dynamic. Property rights vs communal rights. You are not my enemy because you have a different opinion than I. One of the reasons I love America is because we can debate this without one of us being hauled off to prison or lined up against a wall.

Love living here in the country. Park anything anywhere.

When I built my new two story garage, for the permit they only wanted to know the roof design would hold the snow, it wasn't too close to the road or other buildings (fire code), and how many square feet it was going to be.

When we added an enclosed porch to the house the code guy asked me if I was happy with the quality of the work. Yes and Approved

Building a new 10'x24' greenhouse next on a cement and block foundation. No permit needed at all. No HOAs for me.
