The Insurance Game
Last year my new policy with Safeco (through Good Sam) was $927, got the renewal statement today, $1,220, more than a 30% increase. No claims or accidents, no tickets, stored indoors and only driven 4,000 miles last year. Called to ask if it was correct, yes it was, OK thank you. Called Good Sam and this time they put me with National General for $868/yr, same coverage. I haven't had to play this game since I quit Farmer's many years ago on our cars for the same reason.
They also try and get you to agree to automatic renewal on your credit card so they can sneak the rate increase by easier.
It seems that customer retention would be cheaper in the long run than this constant musical chairs game. Rant over.

I have had Safeco now for 2 years through my business relationship.
I pay a ton for insurance. They better not screw me over but am waiting for that day. I pay them like 6 grand a year for many other things, so the motorhome is just a small piece of the puzzle.
I better check and see.....

Every year you gotta pay their game by looking up cheaper insurance after rate increases the second year.
Never allow automatic 2nd year payment renewals, unless they give a big discount. Then cancel it when the 2nd year goes up.
I've dropped all comp/collusion even on my $200k DP. I'm saving thousands a year. Put it in savings for a rainy day. Over $50k now. My money!

When i got my new rig I got a quote for RI and Florida. The Florida quote was $2100 and the RI quote was $1100. Amazing what a few miles distance does for insurance.

I realize things will likely change in the upward direction for me, but my Progressive premium actually dropped after the first year (August). I suspect they are priming me for an increase next year. "Hey, when we increase his policy, he will recall there was a drop last year so he won't mind the increase. Then he'll forget about it....." Nope, I'm watching.

Safeco pulled that on me after two years. Told them adios and found coverage elsewhere. Seems to be their business model, hoping people are too lazy to shop.

I would strongly suggest checking out Costco Connect. I was with AAA for 25 years and called to just inquire, 10 minutes later all my cars except my 1970 Corvette were insured
2021 GMC Denali diesel ($82k truck is $950)
2017 Mini cooper
2006 Jeep Commander
2013 Mercedes S class
2002 Alpine 38ft ($168 a year)
all full coverage $250 deduct except Mercedes and Moho $1000 100/300k
$2400ish AAA with just 4 cars was $4600
