Thin-Lite 18" rocker switch, where to buy?

Hi All,

Just finished upgrading the ceiling fluorescent's to LED and in the process broke a tab on the rocker switch.

It had a Swann emblem above the number 23 rated at 15A for 12VDC

Now luck chasing down a replacement.

Anyone ever replace one of the switches and where did you purchase it.

Thanks for the help,
greg

If it was only the tab that holds it in place, I'd use JB Weld.... Might have to use Ty-Wrap or twine to hold it in place till the epoxy sets up?
If it was the electrical tab / connector might be able to steal a switch from another light. As a example we have a overhead light in the bath / shower hall. It is on a wall switch but also has a switch on the light that we don't really need.
If ya don't want to go that route: I bought some off e-bay years ago, quick search on amazon 10 for $6 though the first ones that I found were black. You would have to verify the size. Still for me epoxy would be my first fix.
Side note, I discovered Hot Glue works great for holding stuff in place while epoxy cures. Learned the hard way Hot Glue doesn't hold up in places that get warm enough to re-melt the glue..... :-) Did I really have to say that in PUBLIC?

Ronnie that was my first idea as well, but seems a bit permanent should the switch go out.
Maybe just dollop of some epoxy? i have some 20 minute epoxy but you will break something before it cuts loose..I know as thats how I repaired my overdrive button on my 96 f250 power stroke....20 years ago

Would rather replace the switch

A small dab of clear silicone adhesive under the flange of the switch, a razor blade between the flange and aluminum will loosen it enough to pop it out.

How strange, I googled swannswitch.com and found the company web site and found all their product types. You can select the type you have , it shows dimensions and you can build the catalog number for ordering the correct item.

Ordering from a Chinese manufacturer is a lot different than ordering from a US retailer. The best thing you can get from their website is the opening size, 13x19.3 mm.

McMaster and Newark let you spec by opening. McMaster has one but it has a lighted rocker. That could probably be defeated by not grounding a terminal, but the rocker is still prismatic and wouldn't match.

https://www.mcmaster.com/rocker-swit...out-width~1-2/

Newark has a better match, all black, SPDT.

https://www.newark.com/multicomp/mc3...ack/dp/97K4688

Newark has much larger selections for 19.2 and 19.4, I didn't look at them.

I changed all my Thin Lites to LED strips a couple of years ago, never realized how scarce those switches are.

Winner Winner

Switches were a perfect fit. Look exactly like the Swann switches that were in the lights. Even the blades were a match

This was them from Ebay

3 Pcs Joemex SPST Mini Snap-In Rocker Switch, 83 Series, 125V 15A, 250V 10A T85

$5.52 for 3 and applicable state sales tax if you have it

Thanks for all the responses
greg
