I installed one on my 40' DP. Gives me some piece of mind as far as blow outs go. Sure you can drive holding the wheel tight when driving, in case something happens but do you want to? Safe-T-Plus dampens the initial pull on the steering wheel when a blowout occurs. Wouldn't be without it. It tracks better down the highway as well.

I agree with Gary. These big rigs have excellent heavy duty steering systems. I have had a RF blow out...tapped off the cruise and coasted to the side of the road. Other than some steering wheel vibration there were no control problems at all.

I installed one on my Winnie Forza 34T, and it certainly helps with the tail wagging the dog effect when passed by 16-wheelers.

If you don't think you need one, watch this:

This made me seriously look at installing one on mine. It may not have prevented this from happening, but then again it may have.

That video proves nothing. It "says" the accident was caused by a blowout. It could have been any number of things...ran over something in the road, ran off the road, had a heart attack, rim failure, some type steering failure, excessive speed, etc.

The video shows the effect of an abrupt wheel pull, to the left in this case. The wheel pull was not stopped quickly enough and in the soft ground the rig just dug in and beyond the ability to stay upright. Even if the rig had stayed on pavement sudden hard braking would have done exactly what happened. Good steering stabilizers exert enough resistance to mitigate the abruptness seen here and give the driver a chance if they don't panic. Panic ends things very quickly.

Agree about the hard abrupt pull to the left. However, with the steering systems on these big rigs, the driver should have been able to maintain control...it appears he was slow to react, thus off the road.

All MH drivers should be aware of not using the brakes in a situation like this.

Did anyone besides me notice the brake lights did NOT come on in the video? The tire seems to blow just as driver signal to lane change, you'll see the right turn indicator block once... It doesn't appear that the driver even slowed down.

I know it's counter intuitive, but per the following, the last thing you want to do is apply the brakes.

Yup on the brakes. My father was pulling a medium sized airstream with his E250 on the Interstate when the rear axle and wheel on the van decided to go a different direction. He couldn't stop from being pulled into the median but he rode the trailer brake controller all the way to a safe stop. The trooper said it was the first time he came across one that hadn't rolled. Trailer-OK. Dad-OK. Van-repaired. Dog-won't ride in van anymore.

IF YOU CANT reach the controller, steer and see out the window, MOVE the controller.

I've seen that video, and the many debated threads and post on this fourm about it.

I was only was noting that he still went into median and rolled over despite not hitting brakes and it looks like he was still under power when it went into grass...

Just installed True Center on my 2009 Pace Arrow 38P and what a difference. My coach has always driven very good but now it is extremely good. And on top of that just put on 4 Koni shocks that are excellent too. Looking forward to this years long fall trip up to Maine.

How many people have you seen that cannot even handle a blowout on a light car, or just running off on the shoulder and over correcting? Happens everyday because many people lack skills to compensate.
