Tire doomed?

Was getting the RV ready for this weekends first trip of the season. Last thing to do was check the air pressure in the tires. Got to the drivers side back outer tire and saw this. I don't recall hitting anything with the tire last year. The only one driving it this year so far was by the Ford shop when they were diagnosing the transmission. It's smaller that a full curb hit, is this a sign of a pending tire failure or is this just a surface defect that has to be watched.

Also, what are the (pardon my bad description) long remote clip on air hoses called. After seeing the video of tire failures when inflating tires, I'd like to find one of them. I don't like sitting next to the tire adding air anymore.

Thanks for the help

I take no chances with tires. Think about it. Replace this tire and any others as needed.

If you think it's doomed...it's doomed. Your tire, your money, your life, your call.

Tire time.

Look carefully at the inside dully to see if it suffered also.

If you need two tires, depending on tire age, you may consider bringing the two steers back to the dullies and put the two new tires on the steers.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

There was a bar code sticker there that fell or was peeled off, looks like there is still a bit of it there. It's hard to see in the picture. Have it looked at but I wouldn't worry about it.

As 92TNT Racing mentioned it could be the remains of the bar code sticker. Take some rubbing alcohol to see if it can be removed, possibly glue left behind from the sticker based on the block outline on the tire there.

What are we looking at? I don't see anything wrong with the tire.

Need "Feel-O-Vision" for this one. If the outer tire casing is split replace it but I'm also thinking it looks like the remains of a bar code sticker. Need to touch it for a final determination.

As with others here, is it a split in the sidewall surface? Any damage and I replace no question.

Appears to be a split casing, but not sure...

Not sure what I am looking for? Is it the silver streak? If in doubt take it to a quality tire store for an honest opinion.

I've been looking at that picture a few minutes and I can't tell if that's a tear in the sidewall or something that has peeled off. If it is a split it needs to be replaced.

Looks like a scrape thru the outer layer of the tire rubber, exposing an inner layer. I'd replace it.

Have you seen the videos of a tire exploding and what happens to the RV?
