Tire Minder RHINO signal booster

For those of you that use the Tire Minder tire TPMS system, where did you mount your signal booster? The directions say to mount it towards the back of the motorhome. I can easily mount it in the battery compartment but that is in the front of my motorhome. Not sure where I can tap into 12 volts near the back.

If you have a 12v charge line at your trailer/toad connection can tap into that. On ours, that line is only hot when the ignition is on and that's the only time the repeater is needed.

It needs to go in the rear. There should be 12v at your tow hitch.

The former owner had mounted his signal repeater in one of the hanging closets in the bedroom. He wired it into the light circuit, so that's where I installed mine when we changed to the Tireminder. It's wired into the hot side of the circuit so I can turn the repeater one and off independently of the light. Works fine there

For those recommending using the trailer hitch wiring, I do tow a Jeep and have a 7 pin round adapter/cable that hooks to the Jeep for the brake lights, blinkers, etc. Are you suggestion to splice into the hitch wiring?

Not much help but do try and mount it under the motorhome. I know some are not and not having any issues but I wouldn't

Call Tireminder about alternate locations, outside your battery box in front. My Tireminder monitor reads tire pressures from 75' away while sitting on my couch in my sticks and bricks house. While moving, the sensors bounce signals off the pavement to communicate with the booster so they don't need a clear line of sight. Your extra 10-15' might not matter but talk to TM
Also, fwiw, I am 51' towing and never an issue with the toads sensors and.my extender is mounted just forward of the rear axle on the outside of the battery box on the passenger side visible to the naked eye when looking at the side of the rv.i can see the green status light

I installed a charge line years ago so I tapped into that.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. I have over 75k miles on two coaches with it mounted in the rear cap and connected to the 12v charge line which is only hot when the ignition key is on.

Your scenario of mounting in the closet is what I would do if my battery compartment wasn’t in the rear. No matter where you put it, generally it has to pass thru a wall.

Having it active all the time is important to me because I like taking a look at my tire pressures before we leave to get on the road and generally before I crank the engine. I realize I could turn the key on, but sometimes I may want to check my tires while I’m in bed. Lol.

On my gas coach I zip tied to a rail under the coach near rear differential. Connected it's power lines at the generator.

I installed mine in the wet bay. Used the 12 v plug wiring for power drilled two holes for zip ties to fasten it. Works for me.

I had one zip tied to the trailer hitch in a safe spot. That was on a DP, so I was tied into the chassis batteries, but on a gasser, I'd tie into the toad battery charge line coach side.
