tire mounting, balancing, etc?

From looking on my acct with Michelin Advantage I find cost of tires I am soon to purchase (275 80R 22.5) but what should I expect in fee for mounting, balancing, and new valve stems?

That's up to the dealer you're buying from. They set that price and each dealer will probably be different. I got my tires over 2 years ago so I don't know what it would be today. I only had the front tires balanced.

D,
Thought it was probably different amongst tie centers but wanted an idea of what to expect.
Fronts is all I am interested in balancing also. Bougt new tires for Chevy toad last week and all was turn key, monting, balancing, N, even a check of alignment. MH all a different ballgame.

Year and a half ago, I bought 6, total out-the-door was around $3400.
Balanced all 6. Had to go back a month later, re balanced, the rear was out, really made the seat of the pants shake.
I would balance all, not that much cost, much easier on the equipment...
Rides easy now..

I had 6 XRV 235/80R22.5 tires installed yesterday through the FMCA program. Here are the charges from our tire dealer;

Labor Wheel Changes (remove and replace wheel) $12.00
Labor Dismount and Mount Tire 12.00
Computer Balance (spin balance) 20.00
Valve Stems 7.50
Total $51.50 per tire

This is through a commercial Michelin dealer in my area. I have seen postings with prices as high as $100 per tire for the same services. It took about 2.5 hours to get the job done. Should mention that the valve stems are longer and bent to allow access to all wheel positions rather that the standard short stems.

Tom, did Michelin debit your CC for all or just tires per their chart quote? Thanks, gives me an idea if dealer is about par. bill

wheel balancing

Personally, I think it makes good sense to have all the tires balanced at installation. The only downside besides $ is that the weights they use on the rear outside 22.5 aluminum wheels look like they are coming off, but so far they haven't

Just my opinion but if you are going to that expense and the wheels are off why not?

In our case I paid the dealer directly for the installation labor and parts. I will be billed for only the tires through the FMCA plan. I have seen invoices from others where the dealer submits everything through the plan. It apparently can work either way.

I just had my 4 rear tires 305/70/22.5 done last week $2960 total with the FMCA deal, all of which was billed directly by Michelin.

I had them balanced, after seeing the amount of weight they added I am very glad I did. My thinking is, these tires will be on the rig for another 80k miles, spending a few dollars a tire to balance them just made since.

$50/tire for mount & balance is fairly typical. I've had quotes as low as $35 and as high as $75.

Don't forget taxes and tire disposal fees (varies by state).
