Tire pressure stems

Just purchased a 2015 Forest River Georgetown 360DSF. While attempting to install TPMS, it appears that the rear duals only have one valve stem.

Is that normal? Will the TPMS work with the reading from both tires? I understand that 100psi is 100 psi being from one tire or two.

And help?

Look 180 degrees from the one you see.

Oops. Seems like someone needed your dual wheel valve extender hoses and clips more than they thought you do.

They should have "valve core stems" extended out to enable you to add air to inside duals. I would certainly make the dealer correct this immediately.

These are one of the things that should have been found prior to purchase.

Some dually trucks and rv's, like my Ford F360 DRW and new Entegra Vision rv do not have valve extenders on the inner tires.........therefore, you need to locate them and install an appropriate valve extender, which might include an angled extender, to check tire pressure, install a TPMS and/or adust tire pressure.

There is such an animal as an equalized dual tire valve set up, but it's rare. My guess is you're not seeing the other valve. Were it my rig the first thing I'd do is get it to a truck tire shop and get one piece accessible rigid steel valve stems installed on every tire. Trust me, those braided/flexible stems are trouble waiting to happen. The needle on my pita meter moved
significantly in the right direction after I consigned those flexible stems to a dumpster.

If you actually see only one valve stem, no hoses, then you aren't looking closely enough to see it stem on the inner tire. It may be short and not out where you can see it easily.

There are equalizer systems on duals where you just put air in one stem, and it provides the same pressure, through hoses, to both tires. If one tire goes flat, an internal valve retains the pressure in the good tire. The TPMS may not indicate that you have a flat tire in this type of system.

Well, I have found out the design.

Having crawled under and looked I found the inner valve stem. Fortunately the tires are far enough apart that I could get my hand/arm in and reach the stem.
Who ever traded it in, left the transmitters for a TPMS on all the tires. Had to remove and two had to be squeezed with pliers for some reason as all they would do was spin until squeezed, then they cam right off.
System installed and all is well.
Thanks for all the comments!!

Camp on!!!

Stem extenders are nice for the inner rear tires, but they can also cause some issues. The longer stem can create a long lever arm that causes more movement than a shorter stem, and ultimately causes the seal to leak for the inner tire. It’s not uncommon to see a flat inner rear tire on a coach that has older tires that has been sitting for a while. Most extenders can be used with a support, but the supports don’t help as much as you’d expect.

I don’t have extenders for my inner rear tires, but I do have screw-on TPMS sensors which can cause similar issues. It’s important to check your tire pressures regularly if you don’t have a TPMS on your coach.

Replace mine every two years. They do wear-out and crack. It does not matter if they have a metal jacket or not.

That's a security feature. Probably a special tool to remove, depending on brand.

Has anyone found the push lock chucks that Costco has on their hoses at their air fill stations? They are nice.

Thought that also but only 2 of the 6 seemed lose and would just spin. Squeezed them a little and the spun right off. There were no locking nut behind them like the ones that I have.
All are working great. Now to get the ones on my towed vehicle installed.

Take a look at the Jaco Lighting air chucks. They have worked well for me and are rated to 200 PSI.
