Leeso - I would go with a truck tire and not a RV specific one. Most of the problems with tires have been related to "RV" versions. Usually the sidewalls are thinner to ride softer. Thinner has proven to be more fragile.

Thinner means paying more attention to your tire pressures.

When I had Mitchelins, I replaced them with Mitchelins. Now that I have Goodyear, when the time comes I will replace with Goodyear. The manufactures set the coaches up for the size tires and set the rear end ratio, speedometer gear, tire clearance to frame etc. Why would I want to second guess them.

Glad this came up!! I will be installing 6 new pieces of rubber in the next week or so, just took out a third mortgage to do so, so we're in good shape.

I run a Damon 39L DPusher on a Spartan chassis, Cummins 350 Turbo Diesel. My stock tires are 7 years old and 45K miles, Michelins.

Here is what I found out for my tires which are a 275/70 R22.5 (including best price found online):

Firestone, FS560 Plus - $396ea

Continental HSR1 - $419
Goodyear, Unisteel G169RSA - $426
Michelin, XZU2 - $473
Goodyear, Unisteel G670RV - $518

The above are based on my specific tire size, which I am very reluctant to change due to concerns provided earlier in this string. They all also have same load rating (H), and similar specs ("any location" tires, etc.).

For me, I only plan to have this coach for another year or two (maybe another 10k miles), so I am leaning toward the Firestone for affordability.

I have been told that any "good" name brand will be dependable and perform similarly. I've also heard not to mix (i.e. - Firestone on the drive rims, Goodyear on the steer rims)?

Here are my questions; 1) Has anyone used the Firestone, 2) any suggestions based on all of the above, and 3) trustworthy installer/supplier in the Denver or Colorado Springs area????

Help is greatly appreciated!

Are you sure about the load range? I have the same tire as you. My load range is J. On the Michelin web site, I can find only a J load range tire for 275X70X22.5. The load range may have an affect on the price.

I thought so, in my 120 hours and 34 pages of research I might have mixed a few specs around

. I will double-check, but if there is that much of a load range difference, the best advice would be to stay with the same load rating I suppose?

If you are selling soon what about resale value Michelin versus Firestone? Or let the new buyer pick his/her own.

Good thought JohnRR - by "selling", i mean that we hope to upgrade in the next couple of years, but stars would have to align properly to do so. Likelihood is 85%, but not for at least 12 to 18 months. tires definitely need replaced right now.

Good point on actual resale value though - I'm not sure how that might impact...?

Floor plan sells the coach. Everything else is negotiable. When considering something like this, reverse the situation. If you were purchasing a pre-owned owned coach would the tires be a show stopper? Would you pay more if the current owner had purchased tires 2 years earlier? The price you receive for your coach, when that time comes depends on many things. The two most important are:
1. market place factors you have no control over
2. does the female half of the purchasing couple like the floor plan and interior
Other than ensuring the coach is spotless, when showing to a potential buyer there is not much else one can do.

So one more Q? to the group - anyone know a trustworthy tire dealer/installer int he Denver or CO Springs areas?

Most I call don't even work on rigs our size.......

Pick the brand you want to buy. Go to the manufacturer's web site and look for their list of truck tire locations in your area. Truck tire stores are the only place that can handle these tires.

On edit, go to http://www.pilottravelcenters.com/Lo...Template=false and you can review the 3 Pilot/Flying J locations in your area. The may have or know where one can get truck tires installed.

I replaced my 22.5 Michelin XZA2's with Continental HSLs a couple of years ago when I could not get the Michelin replacements in LRH tires. I have absolutely no complaint about the Continentals ...as far as I can tell ride and handling is virtually the same ...the the Continentals were $100 less per tire than the Michelins would have been.

I too have`Mitchlin and need changing ,but after 3 blowouts ,one at 2 years ,one at 4 years and other at 5 years old i am convinced XRV are inferior to anything,they have rusted steel belts,bad rubber compound and do not warantee thier product. I amtrying to find bridgestones ,any help for 255/80/222.5?
