Tire-Safe Guard sensors - battery replacement?

Hi Folks: I am running the Tire-Safe Guard pressure sensor system in my rig. They still work OK, though I had to re-train them before my big trip. Seems they are taking longer and longer to "learn". Is it possible the batteries are beginning to fail? They are about 2-years in place now and never been changed. Manual does not indicate when they need new batteries.... Also, anyone know off-hand what batteries they need? I tried to call the company, but went to a voice mail with no message, are they still in business?

Thanks

According to their website, they have 'user replaceable batteries.'

Tire-SafeGuard

Why not take a sensor apart and read the battery number, then pick them up locally or buy online (Amazon?) at a discount price?

Thanks, because the rig is 300 miles away from me right now and I wanted to get the batteries before I got to the rig since it is in the middle of nowhere (I wanted to order them from Amazon as you suggested). The manual does not say nor does the website.....

Why no give them a call. They have to know what the battery number is for the replacement.
I replace my batteries every two years.

Doc-

I have a mix of flow-through and cap type.

The flow-through have an obvious battery "door." I unscrewed it, and what looked like a very thin o-ring came out with the "door," with a split in it. I did not put it back in (probably not useful if split). Anyway, the battery was a CR1632, which a Web search says is a 3V lithium.

I did not open a cap-type sensor. With the o-ring experience, I'm reluctant to do so.

Doc-

I just found this post from yesterday implying that HCI (the Tire-SafeGuard folks) was in business as of the past few weeks.

Growing up, my Dad worked for a company that shut down for two weeks through the Fourth of July. Perhaps they're just closed for the week?

Any deleted any greetings on the voice mail that let you know you receached the company. Unusual to get people to truly drop off the map to the point they erase the business message before vacation.... why not take the internet site down too?

I just bought a new set of sensors from them a couple weeks ago. As far as I know they are still there. Keep leaving messages - they should get back to you

CR1632 is the correct battery size. I replace them every 2 years whether they need it or not as they are very cheap at Amazon.

Amazon CR1632 Batteries

Unfortunately, their only sales and tech person is Dion Elrod and the Hotline listed in a previous post is his mobile phone. Also he is not very responsive but you could try Steve Wong who is the main office person. However he usually just passes the information off to Dion.

Changing batteries on the flow-through sensors is much easier than the CAP sensors. With the CAP sensors you need an extra valve stem to screw the CAP sensor onto in order to grip the plastic cap to pull it off. Also pay attention to the rubber o-ring. It has to be seated into the groove near the bottom of the CAP before slipping it back onto the sensor.
