Torn slide topper cost to replace?

NIRVC Las Vegas which is where the coach is now wants $1843 to replace the ps rear topper on my 15 Entegra Anthem 44 b. Newbie to all this so just curious if that seems reasonable?
Thanks in advance for comments and or suggestions

What is the price of the "topper" and related hardware and how much is the labor?
Then you can price compare. Do you want a well-equipped and qualified staffed shop installing this with the right stuff in a garage using scissor lifts or a person working off a ladder and using the wrong screws going into the interior?

Depending on your physical abilities it isn't that hard to change toppers out yourself. I just replaced all four of mine and I am 79 with two bad shoulders and a knee replacement. Took me about 2 hours each one. $1250.00 for all four. Lots of good videos on the internet on how to do this. Purchased mine from Stone Vos Awnings. I highly recommend them.

I also DYI'd my drivers side 15' Super Slide & drivers side bedroom slide toppers myself & had the topper material made at my local boat cover/upholstery shop of better material & doubled stitched than Carefree's OEM Acrylic toppers & cost me $431.00 & my time of a couple hrs. Go watch a couple YouTube videos if you think of doing it yourself..it's not all that hard & way cheaper!!

Is this just for the topper materiel part of complete assembly? Replacing in like kind or upgrading in some way? The labor seems reasonable. The material seems high unless that includes the complete package.

Well,
First off, your title says "torn topper", correct? Is that all it is, is torn? May I ask, is it repairable? If not, then a replacement topper certainly would be not all that expensive. And you're stating what, something like $1,500 for parts????

Is that $1,500 JUST FOR A NEW TOPPER? If it is, all I can say is WOOOOW! And I'm not too sure of why others are talking screws, nuts and bolts and other hardware if it's ONLY a torn topper. There should be NO OTHER parts replaced is it's simply a topper material. Yep, I too have been a DIY type for decades and just recently did some topper and awning work on our coach.

Our coach, an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the CAT C-7 330HP, has Sunbrella topper and awnings all around. They are of course, now over 20 years old and are in fantastic shape. The material has lasted for all this time but the THREAD hasn't. I recently removed both the main 21' awning and had to re-sew all the seams and joints due to the failing thread. On my main slide topper, the galley slide, I had to remove it and sew a new end where the piping goes due to some ultra heavy winds tearing it a while back.

But it helps to own a commercial sewing machine and be able to handle that kind of work. But, in your case, I guess I just can't see how the cost is so high JUST to replace a topper. I must be waaaaaaay out of touch with this sort of thing. I'd maybe get a second opinion if it's possible. Good luck.

That's pretty steep for replacing a single slide topper, although I am not surprised since it is a NIRVC location, everything they do is outrageously priced. You could shop around Vegas area, maybe there is a mobile tech who can come to you as it's a relatively easy project to replace slide toppers in general.

When we purchased our current motorcoach aout 5 years ago we noticed all 3 slide toppers were certainly showing wear and tear, patio awning was still good. As we know slide toppers keep water from getting into slides, we called nearby Camping World and was quoted $1800 to replace 3 slide toppers 4 years ago.

Well, suffice to say, the price CW quoted was highway robbery. Went to Amazon and found Shadepro awning material well priced with various colors. Ordered 3 Shadepro toppers, as we were expecting good weather I removed old toppers which gave us a chance to clean top of slides and upper slide seal.

When Shadepro material was delivered a couple of days later for our 3 slides, my eldest daughter and I cut material to size using old topers as templates. We added about 4" to each topper for better coverage and installed all 3 in a single afternoon, we chose gray awnings to better match our full body paint.

That was over 4 years ago and slide awnings still look new, Shadepro material is ultra durable. As I recall it was about $200 for materials and a few hours of labor to replace all 3. Sure, we could have paid to have it done, but doing it ourselves we were able to inspect top of slides and upper slide seals.

Way to much to replace the fabric on a topper, even at dealer shop prices. Sounds more like they priced a whole new topper.

If I understand correctly, the quote is for the material on a new roller with the wrap around cover. Is that correct? Is that needed?

I see you're from Post Falls ID, correct? We stayed in a little campground in your town last year. Not a big fan of the campground but we did like your town. Anyway, yep, they're trying to run you through a meat grinder there Partner! Your "estimate" should have read:

1. Slide topper is damaged, needs replacement.
2. Slide topper material: aproximately $250-$350 or so.
3. Labor: $250-$300 or so.
4. Total cost: MAX $650.00

Instead, they wrote the estimate to be seriously more complicated than the job really is. Some companies do that and it just confuses the clients so they just pay. It's your choice Sir but if it were me, I'd RUN from that company.
