Towing 13 GMC Sierra

About to tow my pickup, got the setup at etrailer. Not sure about flat towing and the power steering. Will it damage it with the engine off?

We tow an '11 Sierra 4x4 Crew, (70K miles) without any problems. As long as you have a transfer case with a neutral you should be OK. I think with the '14s you have to pull a fuse. All the answers are in the owner's manual.

Check your owners manual it has a section on flat towing, should have detailed step by step directions.

I have a 2013 GMC 4x4 crew cab I have towed it several thousand miles with no problems. I put the transfer case in neutral, put the gear selector in park remove the keys, and take off. I know it sounds crazy but that's the way it works.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I would only do it if the owner's manual gives instructions for it!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome to the forum!

We're sorry that it has taken a problem to get you to join us, but we are all glad that you are here, and we hope that you will stay engaged with us after you have a resolution. You will find this forum to be a wealth of knowledge and using the search box at the top, you will see that almost every question has already been asked and answered.

Also, posting this question in the toads and towing forum may get a few better answers, but checking your owner's manual will probably be the best one.

We currently tow a 2013 Avalanche and a 2013 Tahoe. I copied the manual pages and posted the directions on the Visor. They both tow easily. Thousands of miles and never an issue.

Transfer case is put in neutral and transmission in park, then I turn the key off and remove it.

I also remove the key after placing transfer in Neutral, trans in park and same a Road Pilot made a copy of tow instructions for visor.
Very Important, Don't forget to release Parking Brake.

Do yourself a favor, READ the manual. It will spell out, step by step, each and every step you need to do, prior to towing and, after towing.
