Towing Capacity
Looked at a used motorhome and it is rated at 15,000 tow rating. It has 600 hp and allison 4000 trans.
Newer models are rated 20,000 lb tow rating. Same engine and trans, same spartan chassis?
is there a difference from the spartan chassis in 2012 to the ones from 2015-present? Not that I would ever say its bs, but how much diff can it be? If there is a difference can the chassis be beefed up where needs be (if it is different)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Possibly only has a 15k hitch on it?
Does it have a tag axle?
More info on the unit you’re comparing is needed.

I'd be suspicious of the data when it reads anything over 10,000 lbs.

My 2013 Allegro Bus on a Powerglide chassis came with a 10,000# hitch. A couple years later, the same model came with a 15,000# hitch/capacity. I contacted Tiffin and was told the chassis were the same. They approved and sold sold me a 15,000# hitch. My son's Newell has a 20,000# towing capacity as well. Contact Spartan with your serial number for the correct information.

It is "rated at 15000" newer ones are 20,000. I dont see them changing the frame - when you look at the spartan chassis it is all the same. MAYBE they have more bracing by the hitch area. I spoke to someone at spartan - maybe I will call again and see. If there is not much different maybe it can be updated and upgraded to 20,000.
I saw a Newell with a 25,000 rating - but it was 10 years old and they still wanted 550,000
