Towing Cost for 34' Class A

I have a chance to buy a 1992 34' Pinnacle Motorhome with a Chevy 454. It is clean inside and out with no known leaks. It is being offered a very low price, I'll just say the owner said to me "I just want it out of my driveway." It has not been run for two years and will not start. My guess is batteries, starter or fuel pump. Here's the problem, it's 250 miles from my house. Where do I begin to look for a towing service and how much should I expect to pay?

I'd find a mobile/moonlighting mechanic to help you get it running and drive it the 250 miles home (he'd also follow you home). Probably be 1 day's labor and that would be less than a tow plus you will have made some progress on the beast.
And.. buy Coachnet insurance prior to going.

We just had ours towed it was just $315.00 just to hook up then $1/mile.......If you did have it towed, take it to the nearest RV Dealer/repair facility to get it running then drive it the rest of the way home. Have someone follow you home. That way you can really assess what work might need to be done. Hopefully None!

Battery or starter is decently quick fix. I'd do that first. Then give up

I agree with the rest, I would try to get it started first. My concern is if the engine is still good. Maybe the rod sticking out of the side of the block is the reason it does not start. I would want to know what im getting into prior to finalizing the sale.

Agree with others - try to get it running in place via a mobile mechanic. Make the sale contingent on nothing major being wrong with the engine.

And an ERS in place before heading the 250 miles to home.

Now that I think about it, I would definately have the sale contingent on the engine running and no major engine work required.

I believe that ERS = Emergency Road Service.

Like stated above, do not tow it. Chevy parts are rather inexpensive and you may only need a battery to get it home.

A good start would be to post the location of the MH here. I am sure someone on the forum would be able to recommend a local mechanic that would inspect/repair it for you.

Times 2.
You should be able to repair and/or replace a number of things, a number of times, for the price of one 250 mile tow.
However, if it can't be repaired enough, where sits, to safely drive only 250 miles, I would leave it there.
