Trailing Arms On My RV
We had a Holiday Rambler Neptune 2006.
Traveling on Int. near Nashville TN, my husband lost control of our RV. Somehow he got it on the side of the interstate. (my prayers were answered) Then we had to have it towed to Nashville, they informed us that the trailing arms had broke off.
We were told that they were made by Monaco and they had been sued many times for same reason but they finally declared bankrupt. Because of this we had to replace them ourselves at a cost of $5000.00. I am afraid to buy a Monaco RV for fear of this happening again. I am not sure what years besides 2006 that had these trailing arms. And not just Monaco Brand RV as ours was a Holiday Rambler.
I know this post is long, but I was wondering if any one knows the years these trailing arms made?? Thanks

The easy way is to call Source Engineering and ask. They make the well-regarded replacement arms for the Monacos, Safaris, Holiday Ramblers and Beavers with the RR4R chassis.
Someone posted a good list on this forum about 6 months ago.

Monaco built neptune/knight had the trailing arm issue, it has been well documented for years. Higher Monaco rv did not have issues, diplomat, endeavor and above.
Monaco builds a great coach, dont get me wrong here, just that the chassis suck high time, had a 99 38ft diplomat with 8 air bag, drove like a boat, traded it for av04 3 slide diplomat 38ft andbit drove like a tuna boat, terrible], drove travel buddy 38 ft winnie and it was night and day difference, a 400 mile trip would in the Monaco would tire me out, no more. Went back to a class c

I thought Source had some kind of a recall? There seemed to be quite a few discussions on it a few years ago. I think I have some stuff in my files on it but I didn't pay that much attention to it at the time as it didn't apply to me but was just curious about all the people that had Roadmaster chassis that had the problem.
eta: Here's some information from FMCA that I found in my files ...giving it a quick glance, it looks as if it will give the models and the years that had the problems:

The trailering arm issue ONLY affects the R4R chassis. How can you tell the difference between the different chassis? Monaco was known for it's (8) airbag chassis called the RR8R. It had four shocks and four air bags on each axle. If the coach had a tag axle, they added two more air bags and shocks and called that chassis the RR10R.
Around 2007, they started producing a (4) airbag coach on their lower end models, Holiday Rambler Neptune and I think the other was the Monaco Cayman. They used (2) airbags and shocks per axle, like most coaches. There was about a three year span where these chassis were used and had trailering arm issues. The trailering arms were getting stressed in the middle and breaking. A couple of companies came out with replacement arms that you replaced on your dime, as Monaco was out of business. You rarely hear of the issue anymore as most were replaced. They were also a rough riding coach.
