Tranny fluid change

It's time to service my Allison on my DP. A friend told me if I change to synthetic, I can go 100k until the next service. Any thoughts?

I would stick with Transynd. You could then, at service interval, take an oil sample and have it analyzed. Chances are you will be able to go beyond the service interval. I would still change filters at recommended interval.

Allison recommends changing synthetic tranny fluid every 48 months, regardless of mileage. Most Rvs will hit the 48 month mark long before the mileage limit.

However, Allison also says that a program of periodic fluid testing (fluid analysis), coupled with regular filter changes, can be used to determine the need for fluid change. I ran Transynd in my Allison 3000 for 12 years, changing filters every 3 years per Allison recommendations. The fluid still tests ok, but its finally starting to show signs of contamination (even though lubricity and such are still OK).
