Transfer switch

So I have a brand new 2020 Bounder and it appears the transfer switch might need to be replaced already. The generator runs but it doesn’t power the coach. Plugged into shore power everything is fine. I checked the generator breakers and the house breakers and everything is fine so I’m thinking it’s the transfer switch.

I am planning on taking my first big trip on July 17th so I need to have this repaired before I go. My question is how long does this repair take. My dealership has some policy that if you drop in they will put you right at the front of the line for quick repair to get back on the road. And hopefully they will bill Fleetwood since I’ve had the coach only three months .

Unfortunately I’m about six hours from the dealership but I am willing to take it there next week and even drop it off and then bring it back down for my trip the following week. If I were to get a mobile mechanic I know it would be more expensive but maybe I can call Fleetwood and have them reimburse me. I guess my main question is what would you guys do? Is a transfer switch replacement real expensive and time consuming job? Thank you guys

I would let the dealer handle it but I would try to get Fleetwood to approve a mobile mechanic first. It could be as simple as a loose wire. I don't know your dealer but getting any shop to do work on the schedule they say they will is a crap shoot especially with the issues we have these days.

Expensive and time consuming depends on access. If you have good access to the transfer switch and know how to operate a multimeter safely you can figure out if it really is the switch, or you might find out it's just a loose connection or a connection that Fleetwood forgot to make. Good stuff to know before you make that trip to the dealer. You may even fix it yourself and not have to make that trip.

Did you trip and reshut the generator breakers? Sometimes they are tripped and you can't tell by looking at them.

Which generator do you have? Did you check the circuit breaker on the generator? The below picture is from the manual of my Onan 12.5 kW Quiet Diesel generator.

Thank you guys for the reply. I have the Onan 5900 generator. There are two breaker switches on the front of the generator that I flipped off and back on. I called Coach-Net and the advisor told me if it’s not the breakers then it’s more than likely the transfer switch. I might call Fleetwood on Monday and see if they can approve a mobile mechanic. I’ll check the wires and maybe see if somebody at the campground who’s a bit handler than me can assist

Just go watch a few shows of Red Green and you'll be good to tackle the job.

You probably have a tranfer switch, but some coaches do not. They have an outlet in the electrical bay that you plug the shore power cord into. Both my previous and current coach are set up this way. I like it because it is simple with nothing to go wrong.
