Transmission Type

2022 Newmar Ventana 4369
I have literature from Allison for 3000 and 4000 series. How do I determine my specific tranny and the type of fluid to use? Synthetic or ?

Two separate questions:

What transmission? If Cummins B, C or L, it will be a 3000 series.

If larger engine, it will be the 4000.

There is a plate on the driver's side of the transmission with series and serial number. Copy it down when shopping for parts for your transmission.

Fluid? TES 668 is the newest generation Allison fluid and supersedes Transynd.

If servicing (pretty easy), go to any Allison dealer and buy the filter kit for your model (from the plate) and a 5 gallon pail of 668. That will leave you one quart left over after the change if you have the 3000 series. 4000 capacity different.

Welcome to iRV2, and the Newmar family.

As Brett, has mentioned there is a tag on the transmission with serial number.
If your not comfortable going under your coach to get the info , then a call to the chassis manufacturer with your serial number should provide all the info your after.

It is a 3000. The Ventana is not available with an ISM or ISX engine.

Yes.....you have a 3000 Allison rated to 1250 pounds of torque. You would have to move to a Newmar Mountain Aire before you would see an Allison 4000.

Your Allison takes TranSynd oil. You will probably never need to add oil to your Allsion until you do the first filter change. However, if you want to carry some, buy a couple of quarts or a gallon of this.

This will either make the Transynd spec situation clearer or totally muddy the waters.

The current Transynd brand fluid is now labeled Transynd 668 and conforms to the Allison TES668 specification. Transynd 668 supercedes the original Transynd, which was the earlier TES 295 specification.

2022 is definitely 295 or 668 they both mix fine even with Dextron that has % left over after the double oil change. Just get Transyn TES668 or Allison approved equivalent.
If your stuck in stop and go traffic stopped a long time pop in neutral. Watch trans temp.

I just changed my Trans fluid and filter this week in front of my house. It is literally as easy as doing an oil change, in fact probably easier! I did both along with the fuel filters/seperater all in about 2 hours.
