I’m in central NH and I make it to Hamburg, PA the first day. There’s a large Cabela’s there that lets RVs park overnight. There’s several restaurants there too so we boondock there the first night.

If you know how to do it it's a snap. Check your Google Maps traffic and time your trip to avoid rush hours and you'll zoom right through.

Also, if you decide to go the long way around, check the weather first. Getting stuck in the snow on I-81 is way worse than getting stuck in New York City traffic.

And I actually ran into a guy in Camden, NJ in a big Essex that said he was going to a RV park in downtown Brooklyn, believe it or not. I can't imagine maneuvering through that mess, but then, I've seen Motorhomes parked along the curb in downtown Chicago, too.

That's why I go around NYC on 287 but do go down through Delaware. The ocean and bay moderate the temperatures and there is less of a chance of white precipitation. I believe it's worth the price of the tolls to not be on the western side of the mountains when I make my trip south for the winter. Otherwise I take the western route.
