Trickle Charger

I have a 2006 Winnebago and was wondering how I can tell if the trickel charger is working?

what wire coming to the chassis batteries would be the T charger?

Can I have another T charger (1.5 amp) hooked up with out damaging the batteries?

Thanks, Zonkpdie

With out spending a lot of time and money, to find out if your chassis batteries are hooked up to the house charging system is to get one of these

12 Volt Battery/Alternator Tester

If the alternator side shows that you are good, then the chassis battery is also being charged when you are hooked up to shore power.

If not, then a $10.00 battery tender hooked to the chassis battery and plugged into shore power for maintaining the battery through the winter months is all I use.

Automatic Battery Charger - 12V

I cut the alligator clips and directly hook the "cheap" battery tenders from harbor freight directly onto the batteries in my back hoe, tractor, mower, basically any piece of equipment than might not be used for long periods during the winter. They keep the battery charged, and help keep it from freezing. They have been amazingly shock and weather resistant for years on the back hoe.

I'm not sure if I've answered your question exactly, but I hope it helps.

Using a Digital meter, when you are on shore power or the genset is running, measure the voltage across both sets of batteries. You should read a minimum of 13.2 and up to 15V. Less or more requires service as it's telling you that either your charger isn't working, or one of your batteries has a shorted cell or other problem.

Many RVs don't have a built in axillary charger for the chassis batteries, which is why many of us install a simple charger as mentioned above. Got mine at Wal-Mart for $20. Others use a Trik-L-Start device.

There are too many wires to/from the batteries to even guess.
