I think the trick for other motorists on the highway would be figuring out if you're coming or going.

This is the 3rd DP I’ve towed this way with 3 receivers...100+K miles and NO unusual tire wear. This lets you back up which I’ve had to do several times in the last two days.

The folks that say they've done this obviously have been able to lock the wheels in a straight-ahead position.

but I personally wouldn't have a Toad that requires a lube pump, or a driveshaft disconnect because of the expense. Too many good vehicles that can serve as a Toad without special handling, equipment, or towing backward.

Unless they are talking about the actual steering wheel lock, that is easy to break, ( ask a car thief ), then the fix is tieing the steering wheel straight ahead. Tow trucks did it all the time, when rear wheel drive was popular.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I do a lot of stuff that people say not to do like triple tow.

As a former mechanic and tow truck operator, I can tell you it is common to tow a car or truck from the rear.
We would center the steering wheel and put a "steering wheel holder" on it (there are several types - we used the mechanical ones). https://store.newtowtrucks.com/steer...ocks-c495.aspx Never seen or heard of any problems towing from the rear Rear wheels off the ground).

I lock the steering wheel with the shoulder harnesses double wrapped around the bottom of it and tighten by the electric seat.
