Triple receiver hitches

The unit I purchased has three two inch reciever hitches on the back. What might they have booked up?

There are a number of uses. Some are to mount a platform to carry an ATV or motorcycle, (often with a caster wheel to support the weight) or to mount a platform for other items that won't fit in compartments. You'll have to measure the width of the two outside receivers to determine if you can figure out the make of the item the previous owner used, or just ignore them and use the center one for a Toad tow bar or trailer.

When I added a motorcycle carrier to the rear of our 03 Phaeton, I had to add a receiver to each frame rail. The cycle carrier used those two plus the OEM one to support and stabilize the bike. That's possibly what the former owner did. As Bob mentioned there is a carrier with a swivel wheel that would use the outer ones to attach to the coach.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Are you by chance referring to the hitch that has three balls on it? If so, they may be different size balls.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

They are for a lift, someone probably carried a motorcycle or golf cart.

Could be an Overbilt motorcycle lift. You may find a power cord from the batteries to the back of the coach. Uses the two outer receivers for the lift and the center onewhen you drop the carrier off and use a tow bar or trailer.

Maybe this? I needed the third to keep the bike up and the jeep tow bar level.

If you shouldn’t put the rear of a car on a tow dolly, why can you do that?

I've put the rear of a car on a dolly several times. Towed from coast to coast. The trick is getting the front wheels straight with the wheel locked.

I’ve owned 3 rv’s, every one I put two extra receivers on the frame rails and built an extended removable porch on the back for “stuff”, bikes, kayaks, surfboards, ez ups, coolers, beer, bbq, firewood......
