TSD problem

Last week I finally got motivated to sign up with TSD for fuel discounts. Filled out the form, opened a special bank account and sent off the information. Last night I got an email from "TSD" that my form was not complete and they needed SSN and bank account information.

Now. I don't often send out my SSN, nor open an account for this sort of thing. So I know that information was included, not to mention I got redlined for not including something else. Would the program have redlined me had I not included SSN and bank ADA numbers? Hell yes.

I emailed TSD, tried to do a live chat, no joy. Try again Monday, but this do seem like a scam to me.

It's no scam. I've used it for a couple years now without an issue. My application went through fine, although there were a lot of applications over a holiday, so it took a little longer. I was able to speak to a live person with a question. Keep trying. It's worth it.

If someone asks for my SSN, I ask why, are you offering me employment? As for a bank account number, na na moosey breath. If I'm writing you a check, the account number is on the check. This is like showing someone your health records to go into a eatery. Do what you think it is worth to you to release your information.

Your SS number is not as private as you would hope. As for the bank account, most people open a new one and only keep enough in it to cover the fuel costs. It works just like TSD says. For me, in 9,000 miles per year at 7 mpg, it amounts to a minimum of $500/ year savings. More when Loves were in the program.

Used TSD card for over a year with zero issues. Thousands of RVers use it with success, convenience, and great savings.

Yes they are, but with a tiny fraction of what the discount was from them a year ago. I believe it is a flat $0.10/gallon off at Loves. It use to be $0.70-$1 off.

Also in-network stations are not always the cheapest in a given area either. I always check 2-3 sources before I decide where to fill. I do always fill at commercial lanes since I am in an HDT with dual tanks and I always use my TSD card.

They are in the program, but they don't offer the largest discounts. Last I looked that was TA/Petro. Check their app for the latest.

TSD also works for me! They need the bank info because the money comes directly out of the bank account you designate. I know some people have great reluctance to providing their SSN but it's probably not as big a deal as they think.

I admit, that they probably need to update their application process, but it's not a scam.

If you apply for credit, you need to provide your SSN and bank reference. How is this any different?

I’ve used TSD quite often. It is not a scam. I did open a second bank acct just for this card. It has saved me a lot of money in the two years I’ve been using it.

No amount of money can buy you an extra second of time.

Effectively they are offering you credit, until within a day the funds come from your bank account. So they need the SSN so that they can pull credit information and report credit information. Not much different from store credit, except it gets paid by ACH transfer within a day.

It is a valid and common use of a SSN, even if I don't agree with it. And my SSN is all over the place and easy to dig out. So there is little special there.

I provided only the last 4 of my SS# and it worked. It is my Control # at the pump.
