This is why I installed a emergency start switch in my dash. It bypasses all the safety crap and applies 12 volts directly to the starter solenoid. The switch will work just fine until I get home where I can fix the problem at my leisure. Twice over a period of three years, I had my f53 not start. I can tell you that crawling under a motorhome just after a big rain is no fun. Now I have the assurance that if something goes wrong in the circuit, I can still start and go. The cost was less than $20.00. It would have been much less, but I wanted one of those fancy push buttons from Summit.

For my reference , which style of relay was Ford using on your year of chassis and was the relay in the location in the pictures ?

I've had 2 failures on my coach too and as ga traveler has done I have installed a emergency start switch ; it's no fun sliding under the coach, to access the starter, at a pump island; though someone else's diesel spill .

Murphy , really had my number that day!
