Turning Screen Door into Storm Door
Has anyone already done it on their MH?
When parked in cool and/or inclement weather I like to have additional light in the DP so am thinking of turning my screen door into storm door. Considering using the temporary window plastic that you can remove after using but not sure of durability over a couple of weeks.
Second idea, but more costly is to affix 1/8" clear pexiglass to inside of screen door with small screws or double sided tape.
Suggestions appreciated and if anyone has done it and has pictures that would be greatly appreciated too.
Richard

Richard-
Our coach came with storm panels. They were fastened to the frame using those conical washers with the rubber on one side. The panels were 1/8-inch thick plexiglass or polycarbonate I could not tell, without frames.
I wanted a screen door, so I removed the panels and rescreened.

I have done it to my last 3 RV's and love having the extra light also, even though I use tinted plexiglass. I made a template of both windows and took them to a place that sells plexi and rubber products, so they could make the right cuts. I install to the inside of screen and fasten with small clips that i fasten to the frame of the screened door ! One word of caution, I tried tape and between the heat and weight of the plexiglass , it would not hold, so I went to using the clips, which are really mirror fasteners. Sorry no pictures at this time . I have the hardest time posting pics. If you would like to pm me with a phone number I would be more than happy to send a couple photos.

I got some Lexan panels and cut to fit for my Bounder. Put 6 Velcro tabs on each and "fuzzy" strips between the Velcro to make it draft free. It worked great and even "dog proofed" the lower screen.

In our old MH, I used plexiglass panels. I found that they would rattle when underway and when I didn't want them on, I had to find adequate sized storage onboard. Now I have clear vinyl that is used on boats and have them velcro'd to the door frame. No rattles and when I take them off, I just roll them up and storage is a breeze.

I cut Lexan panels to fit in mine and made some clips to hold tightly in place. We mostly left them in year around, since they were useful with the a/c on as well.
