the only flaw to that thinking is you are in the minority. If you have to climb a 6% grade or more... you definitely want all the power your engine can generate. OEMs dont care about the end user. THey only want to sell a product with the least amount of warranty claims/issues for the most profit $$$. Everything else (reliability, end user satisfaction, etc) is just gravy

The best way for a power increase for these 8.1 gas engines, is more air in, and more exhaust out. I put on Stainless Steel Magnaflows, and that seemed to give me some type of minor power increase. Next step will be headers, and the Banks kit is on my radar screen.
could it be your elevation that didnt make the UP tune noticeable?? Obviously "butt dynos" are subjective... and a regular drum dyno is only as good as its calibration/bench mark.
