US to CANADA PARTS

I hope this is posted in the proper section.
I need to purchase a door handle from the US. Can anyone tell me the least expensive way to have the part shipped to Canada.
Thanks

USPS is the least expensive. If the shipper uses UPS, you will be assessed a customs brokerage fee imposed by UPS which is simply a cash grab. This happened to me last time we were in BC. I refused delivery because the UPS customs charge was more than half the cost of the part. There was no extra charges using USPS and the actual shipping cost was almost the same but it took 10 days.

USPS is the only way to go...to many fees with others.

This ^

Unfortunately, there is occasions when a specialty part can only be found at one store, and you can't convince them to ship USPS.
I recently needed a $33USD electrical part, and when the dust (and brokerage fee's) settled, it had cost me about $115CAD !

I am with the others, refuse to use any company that ships UPS. USPS is the best, and some now are using what they call global shipping and you know up front what taxes and fees you are paying.

Same issue here, we got stung a few times (UPS/Fedex etc) on all the extra charges and fees with anything other than USPS.

I agree with USPS. I've had 2 different items shipped through UPS , by the time it was in my hand , double to triple the original , $25 us item was over $70 by the time it was in my hand.
I'm looking for a headlight for the Honda, Rockauto or similar had a knockoff unit $75, but they don't ship to Canada. Another US parts retailer was $95 but shipping to Canada was $275 +.
I refuse to pay the $800 plus from Honda Canada for the same item. Even an American Honda dealer sells them for under $400, but they will not ship to Canada.
Yes I'm looking for a reasonable way to get parts across the border.

Never EVER buy anything from a USA store or website that ships through UPS. They have outrageous "brokerage" customs fees that dwarf those from other carriers (ask me how I know ).

I think USPS is the more reasonable shipping option.

I need a reshipper. My supplier wont ship to Canada. They will ship to a US address so who would reship on to my Canadian address? A broker?

I just finished installing a new part for my Aquahot that I could only get from the USA. The shipper was offering free shipping even to Canada but it was coming via UPS. Despite this I paid ZERO fees to UPS and only paid taxes. Yes, it can be done and here is the link for how to do it.

https://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/h...xmas-shopping/

A few things have changed since this article was written. The dollar amount you can self declare has increased to $3300.00 CDN, UPS will not send you an email asking for your broker information they will just send you an email saying you owe this much in duty and taxes with their fee buried in there as well.

The program that allows you to do this is detailed here.

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/c.../prsn-eng.html

While it was a relatively easy process it took 7 calls to UPS and 7 days before I finally got someone to send me a copy of my commercial invoice. It was not until the day they first tried to deliver the package and I refused it did I finally get the invoice emailed to me. Once taxes were paid at an inland customs office I received my package the next day.

Try MyUs.com. I haven't used it personally but I have good references.

757Driver thanks for sharing that info which we will do based on the following:

So, we want to order a Kayak rack that would work perfect for us and nearly died yesterday at this USPS quote for shipping. Almost the price of another kayak! Here's the company's response when I asked about shipping USPS versus UPS:

I looked at both UPS and USPS shipping options, and I have attached the information.

For our Canadian customers the cost of the rack is $360(US), plus shipping, so totals for both these options are…

UPS total $482.53 (you pay duties and taxes)
USPS total $669.75 (don’t know what else you would pay).
