The tag suspension is controlled by a computer that has input from the transmission, speedometer, and possibly a manual switch. I have had my four modules reprogrammed to dump the tag bags with the directional switch when under 20 mph. It will re-inflate at 20 mph. I also had the "dump" switch reprogrammed to "inflate" the bags. The result is that I have complete control of the tag suspension when below 20 mph. I just rotated the tag tires to the steers and they were like new after 40,000 miles. No scrubbing at all, so it makes a difference how the tag suspension is managed.

I should add that the tag can be used to increase or decrease the amount of weight on the steer and drive axle. Many tag coaches leave the factory with the steer axle very near its max weight limit. Mine was one of them. Through several weight checks and adjusting the tag suspension pressure, my steer axle is now over 1000# below it's max load capacity and the drive axle is 2000# below its rated capacity. Once you understand how it works, the tag can do more than just carry some dead weight.

I have a Dynasty with the Valid Air Leveling control system. The tag axle, ride height, and leveling are all handled by the Valid leveling system.

I have the same system. Putting the transmission in reverse doesn't raise my tag axle. Only pressing the 'Tag raise' button does.
