Hi. Any reason not to buy a 2006 Monaco camelot 42dsq? It will be our first. Thank you.

It's a good brand and a good year model.

We have a 2007 42PDQ. We love it.
Things to look into;
Slide lower edges starting to rot. Guardian plates can fix.
Jiffy splices can be intermittent.

Other things are pretty common to all older MH'S.

We've had ours for a little over a year.
I made a excel file of the repairs/upgrades.
The cost could have easily came to 20k if I didn't do most myself.
I'll send the file if you pm me.

The Camelot is a great coach and the first level in the Monaco lineup where they went to a side radiator. It has a great motor, the Cummins ISL 400 and a 3000 Allison transmission.

Coaches of that era will have some paint issues along the roof long.

In that era, the engine compartment box, was very short, just a few inches above the engine. Many complained that it made the bedroom very hot after a day's drive. Some added more insulation. On some, Monaco cut a slot above the engine doors, added painted slats and placed a couple of electric radiator fans behind the slot to draw out the heat.

Here is a link to my post from a similar recent thread. You'll want to read the whole thread.

Welcome to the forum.
Monaco Coach Corp was the largest RV manufacturer in the world. They were known for giving you a lot of coach for your money.
A 2006 42' long Camelot is a very nice coach. When you step up to the 42' model you get a third air conditioner and a larger 10k Onan diesel generator. 2006 also has increased interior ceiling height over earlier models. This is the first year for the improved Magnum Energy inverter.
Make sure you have it professionally inspected by a person familiar with large diesel coaches.
Run oil samples for the engine, transmission, and generator. Thoroughly test the air conditioners and refrigerator. Check the dates on the batteries and tires.

You can download the original brochure here: https://www.monacocoach.com/luxury-rv-brochures

Let us know how it goes!
Best of luck!
