V10 vs the Workhorse Engine. Any comments

We just purchased a 2009 Winnebago Adven 35A Motor Home. It has some upgrades and it has the Workhorse Engine not the V10. Someone said this Engine is not supported or its hard to get needed parts. True or false.

GM produced millions of the 8.1 used in multiple applications.
Parts are readily available from just about any parts source, from aftermarket to any GM dealer.
Happy Trails in your new rig.

There are plenty of those engines around, I don't think you'll have problems finding parts for it. So it's OK to enjoy your new RV, and find something else to worry about.

Work horse ?

I too just purchased an 8.1 GM, V8 in our "new to us" 2004 Pace Arrow 37c.

I picked it up in salt lake City early in January and drove "bone stock" back to Denver. Got 8.3 MPG on the 500 mile trip, running 65 and with a very empty coach.
I have since added the Ultra RV ECM / TCM modules and their plugs and wires.

Can't wait to wander off to Florida and see what she'll do now.

I looked all around the country for a coach that 1. had a Chevy V8 AND 2. had a driver's door, 3. was reasonably priced without being too old to get parts for.
Ours had only 31K on the clock.

We are still fixing a lot of little things, but so far we are very pleased with this coach.

V10 vs the Workhorse Engine. Any comments

First of all - thanks for responding. This is my first Class A and my first post to ask for help. I am glad to hear parts are not an issue. I will request a VIN search to see if the 2009 Winnebago Adven 35A had any recalls.
another quick question..any recommendations on which Tire Cover is the best to buy? This unit has Michelin 235/80R 22.5 I AM GUESSING I WOULD GET A COVER 24"-26" CAN YOU TELL I AM A BIB BEGINNER!

Check the Adco Website. They sell covers by tire size.

Had a '03 Wbgo Adven on Workhorse chassis w 8.1 eng & Allison trans. Great drivetrain. V10 are OK but you miss out on the Allison trans.
Adventurers were a popular and desirable MH. We really enjoyed ours. No problems with parts or repairs.

The engine is a slam dunk. What chassis is it? That can be more problematic.

The W-24 series chassis had very few recalls, and was NOT included in the infamous Bosch brake caliper recall, because it did not use them.

You will find lots more chassis info over in the Workhorse CHASSIS forum here on iRV2.

Also, there is an FMCA Chapter just for Workhorse powered coaches. To see more about that, visit: www.workhorseclub.com or the subforum found on the chassis forum page.

From owning GM and Ford's most of my driving life. GM parts usually are easier and cheaper to get. No Ford spark plug thread issues. I've read some issues rear plug wires getting too hot and exhaust manifold issues. There's a real high temp wire recommended you can search here or Google.

8.1 AND a W24! You have the best IMHO. (Well, maybe not so humble)

Get a set of Banks SS headers and you will be very happy. I wrapped my headers with header wrap all the way from the head to the collectors. No problems with burnt plug wires, or excess heat in the engine compartment.

Drivers door was another big want for me. Love our 38J Adventurer.
