Cool Vacation from vacation!

Greetings all! -

6 days from picking up our new '06 Revolution!!

Topic for comments:

How many of us take off a week or two every so often
to go on a "vacation"? ...Park/Store the RV and schedule a
cruise/flight to parts unknown? Any tips on how you do it
successfully? Adventure stories encouraged. How NOT to
do it allowed.

Engage!

Park and store the rv????? Not any more than I have to. Gave up fighting with airports and all the bull----. Not to mention, all the $350.00 a nite grubby rooms with unsanitary bathrooms.

We vacation from our vacation a few times a year. Before full-timing we acquired timeshares so we use those. Once we decide on a destination we will search the convenient airports for the best fares then store the motorhome fairly close. Some airport parking lots will accommodate RVs for reasonable $$$. We are Thousand Trails members so sometimes take advantage of their storage lots.

We have also had remodel work done while we went on a cruise.

Occasionally we are traveling in an area that also has available condos & large parking so we will park in the lot while staying in a condo that is 3 times the size of our home....sorta weird to look out the window on our "home".

Next Spring we are planning a 6 week adventure to Hawaii so we'll search for the best fares from any airport in the West.

Did a 7 week Canadian Rockies to Vancouver Island in 2014 in condos while leaving the motorhome in Epharta, WA. Great trip!

Our biggest issue is my 1 orchid plant that needs a plant sitter if it is more than 2 weeks.

We don't store the RV. We keep it at the S&B ŕeady to travel We use it all but three months out of the year. I go fishing here in Oklahoma as long as we have no snow too deal with.

We've gone to Ft Lauderdale in Florida a couple times to take a cruise.

The first ttime we stored our motorhome in a storage yard east of the Ft Lauderdale airport.

The second time we stored it at a RV park we stayed at in there storage area.

I just leave it in the carport and go but I would imagine if you full time it could be a problem.
