Boy! Those are some beautiful rigs! I like the older ones because 1: They have more character. 2: They fit my budget. Here is is pic of Stella, my 1997 Holiday Rambler Vacationer.

Has anyone run into a problem with parks that have age restrictions? We have yet to run into that problem, mainly because our Dutch Star doesn't look as old as it is.

Regarding the 10 year rule, we have been requested to send a photo of the Eagle during the booking process.

Each time the CG said "come on down!".

We see quite a few vintage rigs rolling down the road here in our travels. Most of them look very well looked after like the beauties in this discussion.

I so want a vintage rig, but Im afraid that as I grow older that I will not be able to give a vintage ride the TLC they require.

I have seen some fantastic 20-30 year old coaches for sale at very good prices.

We just got back from a winter in Arizona, Lola is 32 years old and now has a little over 65,000 miles on her and she is still in great condition, we even stopped at a RV dealer in Illinois to pick up a family members new 28ft 4,300 lbs travel trailer and take it 2,300 miles to deliver it to them

For the most part, the pre-2008 units were better built than the newer generation of RV's. The further up the scale you go the better the materials are. Solid wood cabinets, tile floor, porcelain toilet, better grade carpets, real leather furniture, plastic faucets, ETC. Sure the newer rigs have newer electronics and TV's but that stuff can be upgraded relativity cheaply compared to the cabinets not coming apart or changing the fake leather furniture and so on. Been there, done that. Another benefit of the older rigs is that the engines are pre-emission engines and give better MPG and horsepower. That would be for both Diesel and Gas powered RV's. Some of my friends questioned me when I bought my 18 years old RV 4 years ago and I can only say they no longer bring up that subject. They are always reattaching trim pieces inside and out, sticking toothpicks with Elmer's glue into striped out screws in the particle board cabinets and so on. I paided about the same for my older rig as they did for their slightly used model. Just one mans opinion. For me, it's a quality issue. I learned over the many years that just like the old Zenith ad's said, the quality goes in before the name goes on. You can't add quality afterwards.

What about upgrades through the years. We removed the headbanger TV, had a cabinet made on the curb side with a TV lift, and put in a 42" Samsung, and added a Traveler Sat. dish. Across from the TV we took out the couch and put two LazyBoy recliners. Probably our best upgrade would have to be the Whirlpool residential fridge. There's also now 480w worth of solar on the roof.
