Sure the newer rigs have newer electronics and TV's but that stuff can be upgraded relativity cheaply compared to the cabinets not coming apart or changing the fake leather furniture and so on. Been there, done that. Another benefit of the older rigs is that the engines are pre-emission engines and give better MPG and horsepower. That would be for both Diesel and Gas powered RV's. Some of my friends questioned me when I bought my 18 years old RV 4 years ago and I can only say they no longer bring up that subject. They are always reattaching trim pieces inside and out, sticking toothpicks with Elmer's glue into striped out screws in the particle board cabinets and so on. I paided about the same for my older rig as they did for their slightly used model. Just one mans opinion. For me, it's a quality issue. I learned over the many years that just like the old Zenith ad's said, the quality goes in before the name goes on. You can't add quality afterwards.

We had this 1991 Beaver Marquis for 19 years, 131,000 miles and was in 49 states, and all provinces of Canada but one. They sure don't make them now like they used to.

We purchased our "baby" 2 1/2 years ago and have gone through a pretty serious upgrade of both the living space and electrical system.
On the inside, we remodeled the kitchen, added a residential refrigerator, wine cooler, and quartz countertops as well as changing most of the drawers, new front cabinet to accommodate 43" LED TV, composite tile floors throughout, etc...
On the electrical side, we added 1600W of solar, 840Ah of Lithium batteries and dual 3000W inverter/chargers that will run everything in the coach including both rooftop ACs.
All in all we have a very solid mechanical platform that has most if not all the creature comforts of most $20o-300 new DPs.
We've had no issues getting into parks that have a 10-year rule after just sending photos.......but with our electrical system upgrade(s) we can pretty much park anywhere and live like we're plugged in

I love older coaches too. So many still going strong and looking great. I saw an older Country Coach in the park the other day. I wish I’d taken a picture, but it looked like the one below. Must have been 25 years old but in exceptional condition.
Here’s a good thread... http://https://www.irv2.com/forums/f...es-404127.html

This is my 1993 Allegro Bay. Paint and decals a little faded but otherwise in great shape. It's on a Chevrolet P30 chassis.

This 2nd picture is taken at Slate Creek rest area south of Grangeville towards Riggins Idaho..Sweet place, dump station with water as you come in and I think 4 R.V. sites..Boat launch ramp and a sandy beach..I can't remember if there was a charge or not..
The 1st I posted was at Sun Lakes State Park, Wa..
The folks I got it from lived just downriver from me..My UPS driver clued me about it..
Seems they were on vacation down south and without ever driving a motorhome purchased it from Mesa RV...There was a list Mesa would address, but they couldn't wait..They ended up spending$2-$3K on the way home from their mistakes...They just parked it in front of their house after 1,500 miles...They paid a bunch $$$ and I didn't..I had to replace the tires, A/C cover etc. after sitting for 7 years.
She has been a really good friend...Real wood and quality build..
I put the Banks system and many other upgrades and happy. No payments either..

Ran into this recently when I found several parks around Portland Oregon that had 10 year age restrictions. They must have a problem up there with people living in older run-down rigs as I've never run into it anywhere else. I imagine sending a photo would have gotten us in the gate, but we decided to stay further out of town anyway.

In the Reply To Thread window, where you key your responses and whatnot, slide down the page to Additional Options, and in the middle of that box is the Manage Attachments button. That’ll prompt you to Choose File from your computer, and the rest is self-explanatory.
Looking forward to seeing it/them. I love these older coaches.

How bout a 77 Winnebago. You say they don't build them like they used to? Try a carbureted 440 big block!
