vinyl floor

We have a 97 Dolphing class a motor home. As normal for this age the carpet main floor needs to be replaced. After reading posts on installing wood plank floors we have decided we would rather have a quality vinyl floor. My question is the slide leaves 3 3" dents in the carpet when it is in. The rollers must lock at the end of the travel. Will vinyl floor leave a 3 flat spots where the rollers are? My thought was the vinyl floor will be a lot lower than the carpet and pad so may not have a problem. Has anyone installed vinyl where carpet was? Any info appreciated

Keep reading all the posts on replacing carpets with vinyl or planks. You will need to put down a scrap of carpet for the slide rollers to ride in on when bringing it in. We put Allure in two summers ago, we never bring the slide in without putting protection down first.

I think pretty much every slide is different. I would remove the carpet, then operate the slide with some cardboard or something similar in it's path to see what happens before you put the new flooring down. What you need to do after that will depend on the results.

On my 05 the vinyl that is in the bath area goes all the way past the entry door. I just took the carpet up to that point. When I opperate the slide I put down a rubber backed throw rug in the areas that it touches the floor.
