Vinyl flooring carpet replacement. What did you pay to have it professionally done?

Living and kitchen area, plus the hallway. Bedroom, living slide, and drivers/co-pilot areas remain existing carpeting.

How much did you pay to have it installed? Labor only.

Done by RV services provider or generic flooring installer?

Thanks!

Have not done it but have gotten quotes of $5000-$6000 with supplies included. Tear out is the big cost with tile. This was total rig.

Misery if not clear. Existing is carpet and vinyl in kitchen. Looking for labor cost idea to remove and replace with vinyl tile.

Did it myself and used Laminate Flooring. Cost was about $500 and took a couple weekends. See pic. I wouldn't pay anymore than $2000 for someone to install flooring.Click image for larger version

Brez,
What kind of laminate flooring & did you have to prep the floor?

Figure a day of labor for a flooring guy and maybe a helper. Rates will vary by region and could be anywhere from $30/hour to $90/hour. I would stay away from RV dealers and find a flooring pro that has RV experience. RVs take a lot of labor for a relatively small square footage - there is a lot of cut & fit and little open space.

Ask an RV sales guy if they know of any flooring people who do RVs, Also ask at flooring shops, or better yet, a flooring supply house that supports the installers (as opposed to a retail flooring store). Most areas have one or two, but they aren't om Main St.

Ty, I just put a thin layer of underlay for a cushion and placed 10mm locking laminate flooring that floats. I think they were 18" x 48" pieces of laminate. I ripped out all the carpet and vinyl flooring and started from scratch.

Thanks all. Not looking for DIY info. Looking for experiences with paying for the labor to do similar job.

I was quoted $1,700 to replace laminate tiles in entry, galley and bathroom. No carpet included in bid.

Ernie is the man when it comes to flooring.

I just finally finished a job that I had wanted to do a few years ago when Ernie was out in the Los Angeles area providing flooring service for others but just couldn't get the time and money together while he was here.

I purchased the materials from Lowe's which came to about $1300 for a high grade Shaw carpet, 12 x 22 feet and 50 pieces of 4 inch by 36 inch vinyl planking.

The labor for the project was $850 done by a local professional with 25 years experience. He has his own business plus works as an installer for Lowe's too.

He worked almost 2 full days installing the carpet in the main large slide and in the bedroom where there was carpet originally. He removed carpet in the closet, around the bed frame pedestal, toilet room, sides of the entry way and the step cover. Those areas now have vinyl planking.

I am now working on installing a few pieces of oak molding to finish off some places where the corners are raw.

The original carpet was almost 13 years old and very ragged.

I will post some photos of before and after once I finish with the molding this week.

I have one RV shop saying $600.00, labor. I buy materials. They do good work. Sounds like a right price. Thanks all!
