Our red 33al just came back from Tucson. The kitchen and bedroom slides had the vroom motors put in ( under warranty). Have not had a chance to go on a trip yet ( soon ) will report back on performance.

I posted earlier about recommending the Vroom system to our friends. Redlands did the install on one slide, but a miscommunication and they didn't do both, which was authorized by Tiffin. From the very beginning, I told our friends to just take it to Tucson and get it done at the Vroom shop.

They now have an appointment in March at Vroom to get the other slide done and the first slide install checked by Vroom techs. We'll see how it all turns out. They owned this coach for over a year, and it's been in the shop with this issue for over six months. Some of that time was due to covid constraints.

I'm scheduled for May in Tuscon. Getting all 3 done - out of pocket. I understand from Brian he had some issues with his controllers. He said the issue is resolved, but he doesn't expect to have his controllers back until May (last spoke about 3 weeks ago). He said the Schwintek controllers work very well with the system and numerous installs of Vroom included keeping the Schwintek controllers (since he didn't have his yet). I have heard the majority of issues with these Schwintek slides weren't the controllers, but rather the mechanisms/motors.

Actually we didn’t know the two slides that needed repairs were getting Vroom systems. Had we known we would have paid for the third to be done. Now we are going back near there and are arranging to have the couch slide done also.

From my friend's description, it's the mounting of the motors and how they contact the track that has been the issue. The Vroom is more substantial and keeps in better contact with the track system.

How do we measure if our slides are not correctly going out? Can you see if the motors are not flush? I’d like to check them before I go out. I have the schwintek slide mechanism.

He returned the coach to the shop (Southern California) and it looks like Tiffin has authorized the Vroom installation. They are sending out a rep from Vroom to show the shop how to do the install. Hopefully, the tech will use my friend's coach as the representative coach.
Can you share the name of the shop in SoCal. Thanks

The shop was Redlands RV. When the miscommunication occurred and they only installed the system one slide, my friend took his coach to Tucson to have the other side installed. He brought it home and had an issue with the Redlands install. Vroom apologized because they were supposed to double check the work that Redlands did in the first slide but didn't. Our friend took it back to Tucson for the corrections.

The Vroom owner brought up a good point. His system is new, and he knows it works. However, he can't control the quality if he allows others to do the install. Until the Vroom system is proven to be a good replacement, I think he's going to limit who can do installs. If it were me and you're on the west coast, go to Tucson. If you're on the east coast, go to Red Bay.

I'm in Red Bay and your chances are not good to get a Vroom. Maybe its because my slide is still under warranty, But the shop manager tells me that Vroom can't produce the units fast enough to get one anytime soon!

Latest from Vroom

My 2020 Allegro Red340 has just returned from Red Bay, getting adjustments on both big slides. They gave me a one year warranty on there Schwintek slides only. I did contact the Vroom owner, he is now quoting about $4,800 per slide, I have two that I’m replacing. The quickest appointment date in Tuscon is November.

I just had both rear slide systems replaced in the Dallas area. About 3 month wait.

One side had failed. Slide shifted back about 1/8" and the gear chewed up the lower rack.

All is fine now. They did a quality job.

I’m also thinking after replacement, I may not fully extend the kitchen slide and try to better balance the weight towards the inside. I don’t know. Hopefully we didn’t spend a bunch of money on a bad design

I see the 2022 now have hydraulic slides on the front 2 slides.
fyi. If you only run a slide part way out, you risk wind, dirt, and rain damage. The slide seals only when its fully out or fully in.

Wow the price has gone way up. If I were doing this today, I'd definitely only do the two larger slides. When I got mine done, it was $2500 per slide. $4800 - ouch!!!!

Vroom

Good day folks!
We are trying to get the bath slide done in our 2022 34 PA. Yes, the 2023 and later 34PA now has hydraulic. We have had the bath slide chew itself up 3 times and this final replacement in Red Bay in the spring was the most successful of all the "they are fixed" reports and we finished a 3 month swing trip with no issues. The schwin just sound horrible, are slow, and we dont trust them. If the slide breaks a 4th time we lose money asa we work from the rig.

So, we found a shop, they were trained in AZ, and they have done many it seems with 8 more on their docket. If they can get us in before the IA rally next month we will get the large bath slide done and just pay for it. This shop does all our maintenance work on the F53 and once out of warranty the coach side, and they are locally owned. The price is now almost $4800 a slide...

We are, after an investment of 10s of thousands in time (no my time is not free as all Mfr's think) and materials, hoping to have a coach we can trust and feel secure in. Very excited for a full trip with zero issues!

Side note, Tiffin is trying to get more vroom capacity but their solution is to get vroom to make their parts in China or Mexico...if anyone knows the owner of vroom please tell him to not do that, made in the USA is why I am spending $5K on a DC motor and some metal track....
V/R,
-B
