The last few years we have been reviewing all of our policies prior to renewing each year. The costs change too much and since we never have claims I'm trying to make sure we are always with the cheapest.

Good comments. I'm neither a Good Sam hater or proponent but bought insurance from them many decades ago after comparing their rates to my current Allstate policy. The decrease then was almost 50% and the insurer at the time was GMAC that later changed to National General. One claim in 1999, no rate increase.

I choose to be a member and use some of the services they offer including RV insurance which is handled by National General. My insurance actually went down this year. Hooray.

Hope everyoneís day is filled with sunshine and happiness.

Yeah, Nationwide dropped out of the RV insurance field. For a while they were still doing it under their Allied subsidiary, but I guess that has ended as well.

Insurance agents work on commission, so they are always motivated to choose an insurer with a generous commission scale. But they also need one with premiums attractive enough to win your business, plus they want annual renewals so they keep on earning after the first year. That's where the sales effort really pays off.

As a Good Sam life member I want to say since buying our first RV in the early eighties we have never used GS to insure any of our rig and have always found a cheaper policy from a different company. Also I just compared the towing rider on my Progressive policy ($27.) To the GS roadside service (about $80) and found them to be almost exactly the same.

I do like their magazine though and that is the only thing I cant get them to send me. Do they still print it?

I have Full Time insurance through Good Sam that is from the National General Assurance Co. not Nationwide.

Mine went up last Oct. on renewal some. So I checked with the Co. that says 15 minutes will save you $$$ the one with the little lizard.
Well their price for 6 months on my toad alone was 143% more the National General.

Nationwide has not dropped out of the RV insurance field - they just no longer insure rigs over 36í. This according to my Nationwide agent 2 hours ago as I am working to get insurance set up on my new (to me) 2015 Newmar Ventana 4002. The agency also brokers other companies and we are shopping them right now. I have been with Nationwide over 40 years and this agent is the best I have ever had.

Seems accurate as they are renewing my policy on my 37 ft coach. I just got the renewal notice a week or so ago. And, as stated in earlier post, it really didn't go up much at all.
