How effective are the washer/dryer combo units? Trying to narrow down our criteria.

There are vented and non-vented models available. Vented will dry somewhat faster and create a little less gray water. Non-vented models use a condensing process to dry, and will take a little longer and generate more wast water.

Both types do a good job, but on small loads. If having wrinkle free cloths is important, make sure and take along a small iron. Many have reported better drying results by reducing the load for the drying cycle.

We have a Spendide 2100XC Vented model. Cutting the big hole in the side of our coach made me nervous, but we have been very happy with the results.

Things to note:
1. Full hookups recommended for use.
2. Spin cycle feels like earth tremors
3. Go easy on the soap.

We travel about six (6) weeks at a time, and have yet to visit a laundry mat. We have used machines at a couple of RV Parks for Comforter and Jeans.

Leaning towards the relativity (new LG 4.5 cu.ft)

Keep in mind all previous RV washer/dryers were just 2.5 cu, ft. LG also makes this in a 2.5 cu.ft. But now makes it in a 4,5 cu,ft, unit.

Nothing like an LG appliance.

We have the 2100xc Splendide vented model. Wife loves it! This is our 3rd rig with one and she will not do without another one if we trade again.
Keep in mind that they use less soap (less than 2 tbls per load) and since you are washing and drying the loads take longer to finish. We love the convenience of starting a load and are free to go about our day. When we return the clothes are clean and dry. You do have to be on full hook ups but we rarely boondock for more than a night.

Guess it boils down to space - Works just not with out some effort - DW likes having the Extra space - so we have earned to work with it - needs to be vented - no question on that.

When we spent longer times - all winter a couple years - we got into a routine and it worked fine - DW complained this summer because of the Wrinkles in her clothes - but we had little time and the load was usually filled.

They work but are not what you are used to if you are using a large dryer now.

In a non Covid year ; we'd be using our 2100 Vented , for 5 1/2 months , while snowbirding. Six years since we installed it .
Load size is not what your used to , that adjustment takes time .
Running the full cycle straight through ( wash/dry ) produces wrinkles , so wash , shake out the clothes ( just like you would moving them to a dryer at home ) then dry.
Queen sheet set , washes fine , but drying one sheet & pillow case at a time reduces drying time considerably .
I'm not sure but , believe the new Splendide have a lint screen , over the years our only issue with the combo unit was a lint ball in the vent . That was at the end of year four , so cleaning the vent tube ( which unfortunately means removing the unit from the cupboard ) is on the two season maintenance list.

We have the small LG unvented combo.
We absolutely love it. We are full time and have been using it just over a year now. Lint goes down the grey tank so no vents to clean.

We have a Splende combo and it does a very good job, although the loads are small. They also use a fairly large amount of water per load.

Several RV'ers have suggested going with stackable units if you have room, over the combo units.

We have the old Splendide 2000 combo. It still does the job for us. Yes, it's slow, but we have the time!

That LG 4.5 Cf sounds great if you have the room for it!

Yea, planning a major Kitchen remodel to make room for it. Need 3 inches on the side and 2 inches in height to get it in.

But kitchen remodel, is planed for this winter anyway, upper and lower cabinets. Lowers get new doors uppers stay same as original coach.

Will be telling the story of the remodel once it starts.

Haven’t used a laundromat in 17 years as half timers. 14 years was with a vented 2100XC... take the items out after the high speed spin and fluff up before drying. Air dry anything you do not want wrinkles in...usually enough items to lessen the drying time of the load. Large bulky items get done when we are home as the spin will not balance...shakes a 42’ DP.
“New” rig has stacked units and DW would rather have a combo and the extra storage. Might happen if I have to replace one of the units.

We have a non-vented Splendide all in one, and to be brutally honest on the very very odd occasion in recent years when we have been hooked up we do use it non-stop = theory is we are paying for site so might as well. It feels like an earthquake so we tend to put on and leave the rig when spin cycle starts. Loads are so very small, and everything comes out hyper creased so I then spend a good hour or more ironing afterwards.

For the mostpart, we find it easier to just rinse up a few smalls by hand from time to time and hang in the shower on pegged spin hanger, and do our main laundry once every 3 weeks including bedding at a laundromat = 3 machines and less than 2 hours sacrifice (usually if parked outside I clean rig in-between wash/dry cycles), and all done and dusted for another 3 weeks. We always go to a nice clean serviced laundromat which has great machine size choices and good reviews on line.

To each their own and whatever works for them. Absolutely if we were on FHU's we would use it exclusively probably every other day - again except for bedding that doesn't fit. However, we are generally dry camping by lakes, rivers, streams, mountains fishing/kayaking so ......

For what it's worth, "if" we get another Rig we would insist it has a stacked washer/dryer!

We are on our second Splendid combo and my wife absolutely loves them! The first one ( 2000) lasted 12 years and would have lasted a whole lot longer had I known about the problem of lint buildup in the back of the unit. Unfortunately I had the new 2100 sitting on my doorstep before realizing what the problem was!
