My washer pump quit working in the middle of a rinse cycle last week. Naturally the washer was obsolete and no pumps were available.
However, with a little research and some off the wall thinking I found a pump on line that I could retro fit and I'd be back in business.
Now some people call me a cheap skate but a $30 DIY repair beats a $1200 replacement any day of the week in my books.
So with a little rework to the mounting bracket and a 1" to 1 1/4" hose connector is was back to washing clothes.

Good job! Can you please post the particulars - Washer brand and model, where you found the pump, what mods you had to make, etc...?

Let me see if I can explain it without writing and book on it. lol.
My washer is Kiraba, It is Italian made and came with the coach in 1992. I know it's an oldie but it works perfect. The pump is mounted in the rear of the machine unlike the newer ones which mount in the front.
I didn't want a new one because they have a circuit board issues that seems to be where they are failing. A new circuit board is almost as much as a machine. Also they take twice as long to do a load.
After 2 days of research I found a pump on ebay. It is a GE model WH23X10030.
The bracket that it came with would not mount properly so I took off the mount and turned it 180 degrees. Then I drilled two new holes for mounting in the same location. The hose fittings were different also. Old unit had an 1 1/4 inlet, the new pump was 1 1/2"
Home Cheapo had a rubber drain connecter for $2.99 that was 1 1/4 on one end and 1 1/2 on the other end and it's only 2" long. Perfect. I then picked up a PVC sink drain tube that was 1 1/4" and cut it off for a nipple.
Using my old hose I needed to cut off 2" to make up for the connector length I inserted the nipple into my old hose and clamped it. Other end of the nipple went into the small end of the drain connecter. Larger end of the connector went on the pump.
I didn't think of taking pictures when i was installing the unit. Sorry.
The terminal ends were different as well. I noted which wire was the hot wire. I cut the old terminal off and put on new ends.
I plugged the machine in and put it on rinse cycle for test run. It worked just like a new one.
The only bad part was, now I needed to do laundry. lol .

My buddy took pictures of the pump and just sent them to me, so I thought I would ass them along.

My buddy took pictures of the pump and just sent them to me so i thought i would pass them on.
Top picture is the rear housing of the pump with the drain connector and the nipple.
next picture was how it is installed in the left rear of the washer.
If you look close by the blue and white wires you can see is the grey drain hose which I curled around and came up over the top.
