Water Heater 1996 Winnebago Itasca Sunrise

I have had a love hate relationship with my water heater. I love my rig but the water heater hates me! LOL. Because of the heater issues, I have replace the board, ignitor, flame rod and thermocouple and both button sensors. My water heater works again but won't relight automatically. I assume that when the "button" thermostat senses the cooler temp in the tank it would light automatically? Mine does not. I'm wondering if there is something else I need to trouble shoot? Or do I have to turn the water heater on everytime it needs to make hot water?

The T-stat Opens when water is heated to 140*F & Closes for reheating at 110*F
ECO (Energy Cut Off...High Temp T-stat) Trips open at 180*F if T-stat Fails. It will reclose when water temp drops below 150*F but you have to reset the controls by turning switch Off then back ON.
Should trigger the RED fault light to indicate it tripped
**Red fault light should also come on when flame fails to ignite

That Thermal Fuse (in the clear tubing) BLOWS if exposed to flame blow back out of combustion chamber due to obstruction etc.
In it's current position it will NOT be exposed......
Swap the connections on T-stat so Thermal Fuse is closer to being over the combustion chamber

Also...I'm Not fan of 'ground' wires being connected to Circuit Board mounting screw
Move Both Green/Ground wires to one of the exhaust shield screws

See thermal fuse position and Ground connections in this picture

That 6 pin connector....pull if off and clean the contacts
Use pencil eraser to clean the circuit board edge connector and check the pins in the connector. Need to be slightly bent down so they make good/solid contact on the edge connector

The RED wire going to ECO.....
It is laying against the T&P Relief Valve which gets HOT
Looks like the insulation is chaffed a bit.
Tie wrap it up away from T&P...wrap the chaffed area with some electricians tape

If that wasn't a new circuit board I would suggest you have a issue with the circuit board
New one should not have intermittent firing issues UNLESS it is a 'Zhongding' circuit board. Those are JUNK

Good clean connections, good grounds, good circuit board....should fire up every time and refire when temp cools down
Hope you can get it working ALL the time

Also, look at the connector going to the circuit board. Those pins are bowed and some times loose their shape. I had to re-bow mine with a dental pick to recreate proper connection.
